A good day. Very mudy and bad getting a bout. I have not bin out but little today. Ben milked for me. Josie done most every thing else. I churned and mended on overalls all day.
Ben & Jim made two crates for calfs [crossed out] calves that they intend to ship. We got the mail OK today. Josie got a package that she had ordered.
We cant go any wher and no one comes so we don't hear any news. Josie wrote to Carrie today. I think a bout them most of the time.
Thursday, February 9, 1922
A bad day. Snowed some. Ben & Jim did not work any this morning. This evening Ben & Jim went to Gretna in the car. They got stalled on the hill between here and the barn. Made the ballance of the way OK. Ben got home before dark. Josie had a letter from Carrie today. We are so glad to hear from them. We heard to day that Smith the Banker had left Gretna. We are very sorrie for that. Josie milked to night. I got supper. The children & Ben are playing carrum. I think they know their lessons. Mabel is up yet.
Saturday, March 18, 1922
A colde cloudy day. Ben worked on the garden. Jim helped Johnson on his plant bed until twelve. He come home to dinner. This evening Ben went to Gretna. Jim and I went with him. Jim went to Chatham. I done some shopping. Ben bought some flour. We got home about night. Henry and Professer Gambol went to the Sulpher Strings. Hugh come here. Henry & Hugh went down the branch fishing. Did not catch any thing. Miss Janie Gravely come to see Josie this evening. We were very glad that she come. I did want to go and see Carrie this evening.

A rainy day. We all staid at home. I got dinner. Cooked meat & turnip greens and a chicken & stewed prunes. Josie had a cake baked. Josie is feeling mighty bad today. I said we all staid at home. I forgot Henry went home with Hugh Brumfield. Jim did not come home. Wilson Starkey got stuck in the mud near the house. Ben went & helped him get out. I wrote two letters today. One to Carrie & one to Julia Fergerson. Wish I could see them.
Wednesday, May 31, 1922
A good day. Cloudy tonight and a little rain. Jim & Ben plowed corn and cut off tobacco hills getting aready to plant tobacco. Mr. Owen carried Alice Thomson & children Mrs Thomson & I and Jane Reynolds to white falls. We did not catch many fish but had a good time. Mrs Car was with Josie. Carrie Reese and the little girls and Kate Harvey come a little while. Virginia H and Doris B come a a while. The children went to the Sulpher Springs. They had a good time Their teachers was with them. They had ice cream.
