A cloudy day. Ben hauled some stalks and put them on the wheat land this morning. All the rest of us tied tobacco. This evening Mr Owen went to the mill for flour. We had corn bread for breakfast this morning. I know we should be thankful for that but we have not bin used to it and do not like it.

We tied all the tobacco that was in the pit then I went to Carries and Ben and Paul went squirrel hunting. They killed nine squirrels.

Kate Harvey come a few minutes this evening.

To night Ben has gone with Marvin to Strait Stone.

A cloudy day most of the day and very warm for the time of the year.

We all staid at home til twelve. Paul went a way this evening I don't know where. Ben and Josie and the children went to Marvins.

There has bin very little passing here today. There is so much sickness and death in the country I think every one ought to stay at home all that they can.

William Baily was buried today.

A cloudy day no rain.

Ben Kate and I went by Java and on to Chatham. Kate put in a plea for Chesley Edmons to come home and strip his tobacco.

Josie milked the cows for me this morning. Paul and the Owens stripped tobacco and Josie helped what she could. Ben and I got back a bout dinner time. Eat dinner. Ben went to the saw mill. I tied tobacco got done be fore night. I went to Marvins a little while.

Heard today that Clifton Reynolds is very sick hope he may be better soon.

Had a Letter from Jim today. I am glad that he was well. Hope he may stay well.

A cloudy day and a little rain here. Ben just got in from Altavista. Says that it rained hard there. He went for a load of lumber. The rest of us stripped tobacco all day. We finished a curing for Mr Owen and commenced one for Paul.

Heard today that Doris Brumfield broke her arm yesterday. I am so sorry for her and her mother. Would go to see her if it wont for there is so much sickness a bout.

Heard to day that Mr Charles Rorrer was buried to day. He was a soldier in the Civil War.

Carlton Trent carried the mail yesterday and to day.

A cloudy day and the wind is blowin to night.

Ben and Owen sawed logs to carry to the saw mill. The rest of us stripped tobacco all day. Josie got dinner. Mr Lowel Witcher come and eat dinner with us. Henry Blair come and looked at the tobacco.

Ben and Josie and Paul and Owen put tobacco in the pit tonight. Henry is complaining of a sore throat to night.

It is raining to night hope it will quit soon.

Ben put shoes on Mr Bailiss's horse to day.
