Clear Ther. 65o SUN. AUG. 14th, 1892 win N.W. Cool & pleasant with a breeze from N.W. I drove down to Bell's & Alcorn's "Phil" with me. Afternoon Mrs Frank Downey called and took Dora to church at Brighton Willie also went to church, driving E Gilpins horse to the phaeton. Bro Chas: & his son Frederic called for more medicine for the latter. Bro R called on way to meeting. Jno W Johnson called at the office. After dusk "Bob" Johnson was here for advice & medicine. Edwd spent part of afternoon & took tea with his cousin Melville Parker, at "Bloomfield".

Clear Ther. 68o MONDAY 15th Wind S.W. Miss Millie Miles was here and had tooth extracted. I was sent for to go to P.T. Stabler's to adjust a fracture of Mrs S's left arm between shoulder & elbow - called to see Mr Evans & at Alcorn's & Alf Bell's. Louisa Bowen washed for H - Caroline Edwards was here for advice and medicine for her son Arthur Dr Brooke called & left my pkg: of Medicines from Williamson's "Frederick" City. I took my watch up to S Wetherald for him to take to Balto tomorrow to his uncle for repairs & regulating.

(Right side of journal) Clear Ther. 70 TUES. AUG. 16th, 1892 Wind Variable Another lovely summer day. I drove to P. T. Stabler's after an early breakfast (having being sent for) & again about 10. o'clk before dinner. Willie was about house all day, he went with me to P.J. S. the first time and Edwd the second. Leshoredge's daughter was here for advice & medicine, for "diarrhea". Cousin Annie Chandlee was here this morning.

Clear Ther. 71o WEDNESDAY 17th Wind Variable Still fine weather, but quite dry & dusty. I drove to P.T. Stabler's & called at Ashton store Bulwar's Alcorn's & Alf: Bell's (Edwd: with me) after which I drove over to Levi Hopkin's & removed "adherent placenta" from his wife, who had twin babies born before I got there "Phil" went with me. Afternoon D Brooke called. After supper W drove "Frank" to Tom J. Lea's.

Clear Ther. 68o MON. AUG. 22d, 1892 Wind E. Considerably cooler this morning. I drove to J Rodney Boswells, called at Ashton & at Sarah & Chas: Hammond's. E went with me. It is very dusty. Louisa Bowen was here for H. Afternoon Herbert Kirk & Richd C Iddings rode over to see us on their bicycles. Fred: Iddings & his mother also called for advice & med: Dora, Hanna Archer & little Bess took tea at E Bentley's.

Cloudy & Clear Ther. 68 TUESDAY 23d Wind S.E. It threatened rain all morning but did not. Herbert Kirk rode his bicycle over & dined here. After dinner, W took him to Sharon & back in buggy and went to Thomas Leas expected to bring Alice Dickenson home with him but she did not come. I walked to P.T. Stabler's & came home in buggy with Willie who brought Bulwar's horse home with him. After supper W took his sister & Hannah Archer to call at Riverside, with Frank to "Surry".

Cloudy & Clear Ther. 70 WED. AUG. 24th, 1892 Wind Variable I drove to Ashton, Hannah Archer went with me. Willie started out to "post" hand bills for the "Fair" using Bulwar's horse & his own buggy. Afternoon Bro Chas: & his son Fredi called, the latter for more medicine. I went to "Gilpin's" field to see a "Scrub" game of Base Ball, part of Sandy Spring nine & part of Highland in which the latter were victors. It commenced raining gently about 6. o'clock p.m.

Rain & Cloudy & Clearing Ther. 70o THURSDAY 25th Wind Variable It rained several showers during last night & early this morning, but not enough to wet the ground to any extent. Afternoon I rode on horse back to Rodney Boswell's after dinner. Lizzie Budd was here for advice & medicine for Walter Budd (her husband) Bro C brought sister H over from Riverside & left her. Willie drove around again putting up advertizements for "The Fair".

Cloudy & Clearing Ther. 68o FRI. AUG. 26th, 1892 Wind Variable W came home from "the dance" about 4. o'clk this a.m. And started out again to distribute the "Fair" hand bills after early breakfast. Albert Platt's daughter was here for advice & med: for her sister (W Matthew's wife). I drove over to P.T. Stable's & to "Homewood" Edwd with me. Herbert Kirk came over from Riverside on his bicycle, he went to "Fair Hill" to tea. Cousin Hallie Bentley called after tea.

Cloudy Ther. 68 SATURDAY 27th Wind N.E. I was called up at day light to prescribe for Walter Budd again and Frank Lea was here for examination for "Life Insurance" in the "Penn Mutual". (before breakfast). I drove down to Rodney Boswell's & to see Mr Evans at Ashton also called at C. G Porter's (Edwd with me). Afternoon Alice Peirce called, also Jas P. Stabler & his sister "Francis" & Chas: Hartsthorne. Herbert dined at "Woodburn". Luther Muncaster took tea here Richd C P Iddings & Mary Gilpin called.

(Right side of journal) Clear Ther. 67 SUN. AUG. 28, 1892 Wind Beautiful day - Bulwar was here early for his horse. I am feeling quite unwell, having taken cold. Dr Chas Farquhar & wife called on way to meeting & brought some ice cream sister H had ordered. Afternoon W took sister H, Dora & Hannah Archer to church & took tea at E Peirce's Herbert went over to Riverside.

Clear Ther. 66 MONDAY 29th Wind Clear & cool this a.m. Herbert came over from Riverside Bro: R drove over to consult me professionally. I am still feeling "under the weather". Thomas Hopkins (son of Henson) was here for advice & medicine for "dysentary" which is very prevalent at this time. Willie went to work with F Leizear at Jno Bentley's. After tea he took F L Angialine Archer to "Homewood" to call. We heard of the sad death of Mrs Laird wife of the "Rev: W Laird"

Cloudy & Clearing Ther. 68o TUES. AUG. 30,1892 Wea. S.E. I took sister H over to Thos. Lea's & left her to make them a visit. After supper Willie drove "Frank" to the Surry to Ashton & took Fanny Peirce home from the store she having returned from a visit to Boston Medford etc W worked all day again with F Leizear at Jno Bentley's.

Cloudy & Clear Ther. 68o WEDNESDAY 31st Wind N.W. It was drizzling this morning but cleared off & made a lovely day. Kate Matthew's brought her infant daughter for advice & med: Mary Lizzie Hardesty was also here for advice & medicine. I drove to Ashton afternoon, Fred Iddings and his mother called also Richd, and Beulah Lea & Herbert Kirk. Sarah Wright called & paid me $3.00 for Amanda Dublin. We expected Charley & wife & infant to day & were disappointed very much. Herbert took tea here. After supper W took "Frank" & buggy "to take a trunk to E Peirce's". Charley & Henry Mathews came after we had gone to bed (about 11. o'clk).

Clear Ther. 66o THURS. SEPR. 1st, 1892 Wind Variable "Lots" of callers to see Charley, expecting to see Ida & the baby, who did not come. Herbert, Fred, Richd: & Beulah all came on bicycles except Fred who drove over. I drove to P. T. Stabler's "Poll" with me. Sophie & Fanny Peirce called. H Mathews left for home after breakfast. After early dinner Charley left, "Phil" & Edward going with him to Rockville to bring the horse & phaeton back.

Clear Ther. 50o FRIDAY 2d Wind N.W. Quite chilly this morning. I drove over to Thos: Lea's to prescribe for sister Harriet also to P.T. Stabler's & removed paste board splints from Mrs S's arm & applied another support in its place. I then drove down to J Rodney Boswell's. Roland Grady went with me. Edwd & Bess went with the Robison's to a "Pic Nic" at Mrs Ellicotts. Mr: Allea Abert dined here. Afternoon I went to a "juvenile Base ball" at Sherwood W worked again with F Leizear at Jno Bentley's & after tea drove "Frank" to E. Peirce's.

Clear Ther. 44 SAT. SEPT. 3d, 1892 Wind N.E. Quite cool again. W went to work again at J. E. Bentley's with Frank Leizear. Mrs: Emily, P Jackson was here to consult me after breakfast. Willie & Leizear finished work at Bentleys at noon . Afternoon Sallie Needles was here to consult me & I loaned her an "ear syringe" "Atomizer" & an "inhaler". Phil Robison was taken with "cholera - morbus" & I went over & prescribed for him: he was much better in the evening & I hope will soon be "all right" again.

Clear Ther. 45o SUNDAY 4th Wind N.E. Willie took Dora & drove over to Glenwood to see Ida & the baby. Mr: A Mathew's & his son "Hood" called on their way to Downeys and Holland's Corner. Afternoon Frank & Fanny Snowden called. Dora & Willie came back home about 10. o'clk p.m.

Clear Ther. 65o MON. SEPT. 5th, 1892 Wind N.W. & SE Warmer weather. Willie worked at the wheel barrow & took Shaw down to Haviland's mill, driving "Frank" to Henderson's "buck board", home to dinner. Fred Iddings was here again to consult me & for more medicine. Wm Matthew's (colored) was here for advice & med: for his wife. Willie walked up to Edwd Peirces after supper. Alice & Fanny were here in the afternoon. It commenced raining about 9. o'clk p.m. in showers & continued until about mid night.

Clearing Ther. 65o TUESDAY 6th Wind N.W. We had a nice little rain last night & we hoped to find it raining this morning, but it cleared off and the wind is from the N.W. quite strong. W came home to breakfast & hauled some sand to school house before dinner. Mrs Chas Stabler took sister Harriet to "the Cottage" to make a visit. Sarah Hammond's daughter was here for advice & med: for her mother and paid me three dollars on Sarah's account for which I gave her a receipt in full to date. Mrs. Jack Johnson was here for advice & medicine. Also Samantha Holland Alice Kirk sent $1.00 she owed me "Carrie" Hopkins here for med: for her mother.
