Clear & Cloudy. Ther. 65o Tues. July 5, 1892 Wind. Willie took Hannah Archer over to Mechanicsville to take the stage for Rockville. After which he went to work & made a day at Gilpin's stable. I have been quite unwell with pain in the bowels & diarrhoea. Afternoon I walked down to Ashton. Washed the "Surry" carriage myself. & it was almost too much for me. "Miss Dove" was here to see me about the School.

Cloudy & Clearing. Ther. 66o Wednesday 6th Wind S.E. I am still suffering with pain and soreness in my abdomen & feel weak & good for nothing. Miss Grady called to see me about our School. Willie worked at Gilpins stable until sometime after noon when they finished. I was sent for & walked down to Ashton to prescribe again for Mr Evan's. Mr Chas. G. Porter walking down at the same time from the mill. After supper Willie took medecine down to Mr Evan's & afterwards took Dora over to Riverside for a call.

Clear Ther. 66o Thurs. July 7, 1892 Wind Beautiful morning. I went up to the store & brought Edwd a pair of shoes of Clifford Waters. Called to see Mr: Jno Oldfields burned hands & arms - which are doing well. Afternoon, about 4. oclock Dr. Koerper arrived from Philad-a bringing Fanny & Bessie with him. Milstead's teams bringing them from Laurel.

Clear Ther. 59o FRIDAY 8 Wind S.W. Quite cool to day. I went up to see Jno Oldfiled's hands & dressed again Dr Koerper going with me after which I drove over to Riverside taking him with me.

Clear Ther. 59o SAT .JULY 9, 1892 WIND Still quite cool in the morning I went to oldfields & dressed the burned hand again Dr Koerper with me Mr Jno Oldfield having come to the office before breakfast to see me. Bro: Richd came & took Dr. K to Riverside to spend the day. W bought some beef of E Hewitt & I some veal from C Gantrell. Willie drove "Fritz" over to E Peirce's. After tea Kate Winfield was here for advice & medicine Willie brought Dr Koerper home from Riverside driving "Frank".

Clear THERM. 62o SUNDAY 10th S.E. WIND Bro: R called on way to meeting W drove Frank to Church at Olney Jas T Henderson brought his daughter Ella May "to the office & I lanced an abcess in the leftside of lower jaw. Dr Koerper expects to leave us tomorrow morning in the early stage. I shall miss him very much and have enjoyed his little visit to us exceedingly.

(Right side of journal) Cloudy THER. 69o MON. JULY 11th, 1892 WIND S.E. Dr Koerper left us this morning in the stage for home. I have enjoyed his visit very much indeed, he left me (as a present) a handsome gold headed "iron wood" or "Rose wood" cane which I shall value very highly. W drove "Frank" to Rockville to meet Wm Grimes. I went to Henderson's & examined & dresses the abcess which I incised yesterday. Dr Brooke called. It rained several times this morning.

Clear Ther. 75 WED. JULY 13, 1892 SW WIND Quite warm. Willie & Mr Grimes started out again after breakfast with Bulwar's horse and W's buggy as before. I am feeling quite unwell. Bro: Chas came over before breakfast & took "Hillis" home with him to help get in rye. Willie & Mr Grimes came home to dinner & went again afternoon. Mrs Jas Johnson from the Bone Mill were here for advice for her infant daughter. Frank & Fancy Snowden brought their infant daughter for advice & to have gums lanced again. After dark "Lizzie" Scott was here for advice & medicine from Sarah Stabler's "The Cottage".

Clear Ther. 70 THURSDAY 14th S.E. Wind Threatened thunder storm all last night heavy thunder early this morning. Willie & Mr Grimes went again all day "drumming". I have felt quite unwell all day very hot weather. Thunder gusts went both North & south of us towards night but missed us. Hendersons "well diggers" expect to work all night to night, having "struck water" in a "quick sandy soil where they use "casings" and they must not stop until they go as deep as is necessary before stopping.

(Right page of journal) Clear Ther. 73o FRI. JULY 15th, 1892 WIND SE I went up to the mill at 1/4 past one o'clk this a.m. to see how the "well diggers" were progressing. but soon returned to bed. Mr Grimes bade us "goodbye" when he & Willie started out this am after breakfast Mr C Colt brought his little boy "Arnold" to the office for examination & advice. Willie came home about dusk having left Mr. Grimes at Gaithersburg. Thunder storms passed both north & south of us quite near but gave us only a sprinkle of rain. A Miss Bennett called to see me (towards evening) about the school.

Clear Ther. 66o SATURDAY 16th Wind N.W. Delightfully cool with a fine N.W. breeze Afternoon "Willie" drove "Frank" to Glenwood to a "Base Ball" match expecting to remain at Mr: A Matthew's all night. James J Henderson was in the office and had a tooth extracted. Edwd & "the boys" went swimming. Sister Lizzie & Fanny spent part of the afternoon with us.

Clear Ther. 65 SUN. JULY 17, 1892 Wind W & S.W. Another lovely day. Willie came from Glenwood at noon having staid all night at Mr: A.G. Matthew's. Ella Henderson came to the office for me to examine & advice as to the condition of her face, which I lanced a week ago. Afternoon Dora & Willie went to church at "Crow Town". I took tea at Edwd Peirce's. I walked up to Gideon Gilpin's in afternoon.

Clear Ther. 69o MONDAY 18th Wind S.W. Still fine weather. Willie took the horses "Fritz & Frank" & brought Bro: Chas' mowing machine from Jas P Stabler's & cut the grass on the "Base Ball" lot beyond the little meeting house. Which I had bought (the grass) from Jno C Bentley, who acted for the Base Ball Club in the matter. I walked over to Jos: Stablers & borrowed his wagon & horse rake for tomorrow to get up the hay. After supper I went to see Edwd Gilpin.

Cloudy Ther. 69 TUES. JULY 19, 1892 Wind S.E. W. commenced raking up the hay & the boys helped shake it up until the rain stopped them "Uncle Henson" came at 9 o'clk & helped us for a short time & went home before 10 o'clock. Afternoon W & "the boys" went to work hauling in hay & soon after Wm Oldfield & Clarence Grady came & helped. they put 3 loads in our barn & 1 large load in Mrs: Robison's. I hope I shall about "clear myself" in the operation. Mrs Jack Johnson & Mrs Jas Bryan were here for advice & medicine for the former.

Clear Ther. 70o WEDNESDAY 20th Wind "Uncle Henson" came to work in the garden etc after breakfast. Sarah Davis brought her infant son to me for advice etc. W hauled up the balance of the hay with F. Clark's wagon & took home J Stabler's wagon & horse rake & Henderson's harness. Bro; R. called on way to & from meeting. Afternoon, W drove "Fritz" to Riverside and brought Bessie home, toward evening he drove "Frank"to "Muncaster's" & from there to a "S camp meeting ". Charles Adams was here after dark for advice for his infant & wife.

Clear Ther. 70 THURS. JULY 21st, 1892 Wind S.E. Beautiful morning. W went to help Henderson get in his hay. Edwd took "Frank" to the shop & had an old shoe put on his "off hind foot". Afternoon W drove "Frank" to E Peirce's to bring "Alice" here. Alice Cook here for advice & medicine. "Lilly" Awkard called & paid me $1.00 she owed me. B.D. Palmer's little son "Mc Gill" brought his pony & cart over for Edwd to take a photograph of them. E also took one of "Bessie" in her swing.

Clear & Cloudy Ther. 73 FRIDAY 22 Wind S.W. Close & hot this morning. "Uncle Henson" came before breakfast to work in the garden. W drove "Fritz" to Edwd Peirce's to get a valice for Dora before dinner - after which he took Dora to Rockville on her way to Washington & "Lincoln" Va: They sent for Alice and she went home soon after dinner - "Uncle Henson" went home about 2 o'clk p.m. having finished hoeing the garden.

Clear Ther. 70 SAT. JULY 23, 1892 Wind S.W. The heaviest electric storm we have had this summer visited us last night, commencing about 11 o'clk & lasting until near one o'clk this a.m. giving us a splendid rain, which was much needed. It was quite cool early this morning, but has been very warm again this afternoon & evening. The "Sherwood" Base Ball boys had a "practice game" this afternoon. Willie & Edwd going down to help them. Mary Hopkins was here this morning with "tooth ache". Luther Muncaster came in with Willie in the evening & with Edward they had some music, he went home about 10-35.

Clear Ther. 80o SUNDAY 24th Wind S.W. Last night was the first oppressively hot night we have had this summer, & this was the hottest morning the thermometer indicating 80o soon after sunrise; fortunately a nice breeze sprang up from S.E. towards noon. Edwd Gilpin came after me & I went to their house & prescribed for "little Edith Scott" grand daughter of a sister of Mrs G's who is visiting them.
