JOHN B. HAWLEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS. MEMBER ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF THE SOUTH. MEMBER TEXAS ASSOCIATION CIVIL ENGINEERS. CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.
FORT WORTH, TEXAS, Oct. 1st 1906. 1906
Hon. The Mayor and City Council, City.
Gentlemen:
In the matter of attached petition of Mr. J. Casey, et al., asking for some sort of crossing of Chamber's Branch at East 19th St., we, your Finance Committee and City Engineer, after consultation with Chief of Fire Department, have made examination of the premises, and find that the improvement is a much needed one, especially for fire department purposes.
Surveys made by the Engineer Dept. show that, at reasonable cost, a six percent grade may be had on the West, and not to exceed a ten per cent grade on the East.
Such grading can be done at a cost of about $500.00, and a thoroughly good concrete bridge over Chambers Branch for the sum of about $500.00.
We therefore recommend that the Street Commissioner and City Engineer be instructed to proceed with the improvement.
Respectfully,
John F Lehane CG Harrold EP Maddox Committee.
John B Hawley City Engineer.

P E T I T I O N .
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of The City of Ft Worth.
We your undersigned petitioners, respectfully submit, that there is no street or Highway now open between the eastern part of the Third Ward, and the Third Ward School building, and there is but one street between said eastern part of the Ward and the business section of the City, and these conditions work a great hardship on the residents of Chambers Hill addition to the City:
Therefore we respectfully urge upon your honorable body, that some steps be taken with the least possible delay to open up a street, preferably East Nineteenth Street, so that access may be had to the Ward School, and to the business districts, without having to go round by way of East Front Street, as this street is becoming dangerous from the rapid running of Inter-Urban cars, and congestion of traffic.
