Fort Worth Texas April 6th.1905.

To the Honorable City Council of the city of Fort Worth,

Gentlemen:

We the undersigned respectfully protest against the granting of a street railway franchise over and upon Texas Street or allowing any street railway company to operate its cars over said street for the following reasons to-wit:

1st. Texas street is now the only good driving street extending through the Western part of the city that is left North of the Railroad reservation and South of Belknap street.

2nd. A street car line is not a public necessity nor convenience for the residents of the city on Texas street and in that portion of the city, but will be exceedingly injurious to the property owners along said street, and adjacent thereto.

3rd. If said line should be operated in the interest of suburban property purely as we understand is the avowed purpose thereof, then it will prove only detrimental to all property in the city contiguous to the line, without returning any benefits whatever.

4th. It will sorely depreciate the value of all tangible property along its line in the city, and will not make up for this loss by its building as the home and most of its property will be sub-urban and out of the jurisdiction of the city.

5th. Texas street is one of the most beautiful residence streets of the city, along which many citizens have bought and built their own homes, and the construction and operation of a sub-urban line or other railway line along said street in front of their homes will prove ruinous to their homes and other property suitable for residence situated on said street.

And we humbly ask that your honorable body do not grant such right or franchise to any street car, or other railway company along and upon Texas street.

Very respectfully,

A. L. Johnson owning 200 feet on Tex, 100 feet on Penn. street
