JOHN B. HAWLEY, CONSULTING ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS, MEMBER ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION OF THE SOUTH, MEMBER TEXAS ASSOCIATION CIVIL ENGINEERS CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH.

FORT WORTH, TEXAS, July 21st 1905

Hon. The Mayor and City Council, City.

Gentlemen:

Acting under your instructions Mr. Dickson and myself have inspected all the wooden buildings on Main St. from the Court House to T. & P. Station.

The total number is twenty nine, not as large as one would suppose, and they are located as follows:

Numbers, 105, 107, 301, 303, 305, 1001,1013, 1101,1111,1112,1114, 1301,1303,1305,1307,1309,1311,1315,1308,1310,1312,1314,1505,1507, 1504,1508,1510.

Numbers 1311 and 1315 are about to be replaced with Brick. The majority of these structures are in very bad state of repair, and yet, with one exception, 1308, I cannot state that their condition is such as to render condemnation proper.

Together with Chief Biddeker, I have examined 1308 with a view of condemnation, but would prefer that the Council, instead of myself should act, after the proper committees have viewed the building. It is certainly very near to the condemnation point.

Respectfully, John B. Hawley City Engineer.
