Fort Worth, Texas, nov. 19 1903

To the Hon City Council of Fort Worth.

Stephen Murrin would respectfully show that at the last rendition and assessment of his City property for taxation, he correctly rendered the same to the Assessor and Collector of the City of Fort Worth. and made in affidavit that such rendition was true and correct. That such rendition was true and correct in every particular_ That notwithstanding, the board equalization saw fit or at least did, list for taxation the amount of money he had on hand on Jan. 1st 1903 at the sum of $1000 more than he had rendered same and more than he then had. Petitioner says that he had no notice of such raise, nor did he know that such action had been taken until he attempted to pay his city taxes. That had he had much knowledge, he would have appealed from such action of said board. Wherefore petitioner says that such arbitrary action of said

board of equalization is unjust to him. and he believes illegal, and he asks your Honorable body to correct the same in some just and reasonable manner either by correcting his assessment or rendition to what it should be or by remitting the tax on the sum of $1000. Which he did not have and stands ready to prone.
