Gentlemen:

We your Street and ALley Committee, and City Engineer, to whom was referred the bids of Smith and Reilly, and L.S.Leversedge and Son, on repairs to North Side Bridge, beg leave to report:

That we are as yet undecided on making an award. That both bidders are anxious to receive back their certified checks.

We therefore recommend that checks be returned to the bidders, and that this Committee, and the City Engineer be authorized to make contract with one of these bidders, on best terms possible.

Mr. J.B.Hawley, City Engineer, Fort Worth, Texas.

Dear Sir:--

In conformity with your call for bids for repair work on the North side bridge, we hereby propose to furnish the necessary material and labor, and to complete to your entire satisfaction all the work embraced in said call for bids for the sum of $2975.00

The work embraced in this proposition consists of the furnishing of new floor on the main road-way of said bridge, and the delivery of the old material at the City Pound; the thorough scraping and wirebrushing of the iron work and the painting of same with one full coat of paint, as called for; the tightning and adjusting of the loose tension members in the bridge, as far as practicable; the clamping together of the lateral and tie-rods to prevent rattling; of furnishing new lateral rod in pony span on the South end of the bridge; in cas ing with cylinder and concrete the channel columns supporting the pannel at the end of the channel span and the South end of the fifty foot (50') span in the same manner as the work done on the adjoining bent ; the taking out and straightning of the strut between the cylinders of pier Number Three (No.3), as shown on diagram filed in your office sometime ago with report.

it will be necessary to close the bridge to travel for several days while the work is being done, as it will be impossible to work men on the upper cords of the bridge to ajust same, while the tranvel is continued.
