Resolved that a committee of there be appointed to examine with the condition of the streets and report what improvements or repairs are actually necessary at this present time as also are estimate of the necessary expenses to be in cured for the same ... appointed [inelligible] comittee. H.H Edwards, T.J. Jennings, Geo [George] Clevenger.

On motion, the board adjourned with called, or to the regular term.

21 August 1857. The board of Alderman of the City of Nacogdoches met according to call of the Mayor Present J H Starr, H Raguet, T.J. Jennings, Geo Clevenger, and H H Edwards.

Board having organized the committee appointed in the tax list reported their duties performed. The Committee in streets and Improvements made a written report which was adopted and ordered to be placed upon the minutes. Resolved that a committee of three be appointed to draft, explain of repairs as recommended by the Committee on streets and [illegible] and contract for the same to the invest bidder requiring board and security for performances of the work.

On motion, the board adjourned to the regular day.

To the Hon [Honorable] Mayor & Alderman of the City of Nacogdoches We the undersigned Committee appointed to examine into and report the condition of the streets of Nacogdoches and estimate the probable expense of repairing the same road respectfully submit first that we find that portions of north street from Simpson Hotel south to the next [illegible] street in a deplorable coordinator and estimate the probable expense of repairing that portion of that street at fifty dollars[.] second we find the street running east and west lying south of Main Street to be in general in a very bad condition estimating the probable expense of repairing that portion from the south west corner of the public square west to north street [illegible] twenty five dollars and the balance [illegible] street east as far as cross street between Raguet & Thomas devellings at an additional twenty five dollars to which together with ten dollars for the repairing of two bridges across the turn ditch will make in all one hundred and ten dollars as the probable estimate of the repairs actually necessary to be done at as early a day as possible all of which is respectfully submitted[.] Nacogdoches 8 Augt [August] 1851. signed H.H. Nacogdoches 25th 1857 Board of Alderman of the City of Nacogdoches met persuant to call present J. H Starr J. J Jennings Geo Clevenger James Hart H. Raguet and H H Edwards the minutes of the previous meeting was read and addopted [adopted]. In petition of J.J. Simpson [illegible]. to building now be sancted by H.H. Edwards was read and submitted to the board for their action upon which the following resolutions was offered and deposited and the secretary instincted to finish Mr. Simpson with a copy of the same.

Resolved that the Board of Alderman have considered the petition of J.J. Simpson and as the granting the Mayor would not change the general course of the street. They concern it would be of little of any public [illegible] and [illegible] funding that the owners of adjacent lets who would be most affected by the measure object to it. The board without [illegible] using fully into them survey upon the subject decline acting in the appreciation. On motion, it was resolved that a Committee of three be appointed to as certain upon what terms a survey of the streets and two of Nacogdoches together with a correct map of same could be had, and to what at the next regular meeting of the board appointed [illegible] Committee. a petition from a stern in regard to a claim against the [Corporation] of Nacogdoches for the sum of twenty five dollars with interest was read and upon motion laid over for further conversation. On motion, the board to adjourned.

Nacogdoches 3 Nov, 1851. Board of Alderman of the City of Nacogdoches met pursuant to rule. Present J.H. Starr Charles Chevalleir, James Hart, Henry Raguet H.H. Edwards, also P.W. Ford.

The Committee appointed to a certain whom what terms a survey of the streets and turn of Nacogdoches together with a correct map of the same could be had made [illegible] report that they could find new reasons who seemed disposed to [illegible] [cut off] job. One of the committees H.H. Edwards submitted is [illegible] survey and map of said turn made upon his own responsible which make was appointed and the following resolution offered and addopted [adopted] Resolved that Alderman Edwards be anyting to proceed to complete a map of the city of Nacogdoches is far as practical and what the corportation will lay reasonable compensation therefore. Respond that all lots for which the owners or others will present metes and boards within 30 days shall we entered in said map free of charge. [cut off]

and Charles Chevalleir be a committee to report upon the subject of reopening old streets which have been closed or make new ones before entering the same in said map.

The committee upon street repairs made a report which was addopted [adopted]. and ordered to be filed and it was reported that the same committee contract to have the ten bridges over the turn ditch repaired by private contract as well as another bridge over the ditch in Fords Lure. On motion the following accts [accounts] were allowed and ordered to be paid to witt Jno [John] C. Morrison [accounts] for the dollar [Illegible] [account] for two dollars 35 cents and H.H. Edwards [account] for two dollars & 80 cents making in all six dollars 15 cents --- Resolved that a Committee of two J.J Jennings esqur JH Raguet Esqur to be appointed to draft amendments to the present charter of the corporation to be acted upon by the present legislature of the state and to repeat the same to this body.

Resolved that the Board of Alderman considers the House now occupied by Mr. Clayton in its present decayed condition as a Public nuisance and that the owner is agents of money be requested to[ illegible] the same as early as practable. Resolved that Board stand adjourned
