Nacogdoches of May 1857. Board of Alderman of the city of Nacogdoches met in the day as per adjournment. Present JH. Starr, H. Raguet, Ja Hart H.H Edwards. Quorem not being present The board adjourned untill the regular Meeting to which is call be [illegible]. H.H Edwards Secretary -

Nacogdoches, 13 May 1857 Board of alderman in the city of Nacogdoches met pursuant to a call of the mayor. Present - J [James] H. Starr, P.W. Ford, Geo [George] Clevenger, Jas [James] Hart, and H.H. Edwards.

On motion, the survey of the limits of the [Corporation] were recieved and ordered to be recorded in the minutes of the board. J.E. Lemon acct [account] for surveying the [Corporation] limits of 13 50/100 was allowed and a warrent [is hereby] ordered to issue for the same.

On motion, an ordinance providing for arrest of persons infringing certian [certain] ordinances was addopted [adopted] and approved.

On motion, an ordinance providing for the fees of Mayor, Collector, and Constable was addopted [adopted] and approved.

On motion, the following regulations were addopted to witt.

Whereas certian [certain] subscribers interested in the log school house and memories - near the Mexican burying ground have filed with the board a transfer of their respective interests to the corporation of Nacogdoches. It is therefore resolved that the Corporation do hereby recieve such interest

and agree to take charge of the same. It is further resolved that said house and premises be leased or rented for a period not exceeding six months at any one time and solely for school purposes to the highest bidder. The rent in all cases to be secured by good endorsers and payable monthly and if not so, paid the House to be vacated and taken possession of by the Corporation Constable. When failure to pay shall be made known to him, the rent in all cases to be applied to the improvement of the property.

Be it further resolved that the said house and premises be leased is rented by the Corporation Collector to the highest bidder on Saturday, the 17th just at the Court House door as herein provided and when vacant at any future time after five days notice.

Feild [Field] Notes of the Corporation. [illegible] survey of the Corporation of the Town of Nacogdoches beginning at a point 950 4/10 is south of the Court House and running thence east at 250 on Bayou Banito course south 400 wide at 528 on Bayou La Nana 9 m wide Course S.E. as 810 on Sweet gum line tree 10 M drains at 820 on another sweet gum 15 M drain line tree at 830. On Road to negro church at 950 4/10 on S.E. Corner. A red oak 5 M dia from which a hull oak 4 M dia by S25 W 5 3/10 on dist and a dog wood 4 M dia by N16 W 4 6/10 on dist. Thence north at 8 vares road to Shawnee Crossway via. Remeleys Mill at 258 on Balmers field [cut off]

Corner from which a post oak 14 in dia brs S 81 E 13 vs dist and a Pine 15 in dia brs S 45 1/2 E 16 vs dist. Thence South at 75 vs a road at 240 vs a small branch cours [cut off] east at 420 vs Old Douglass road, at 610 vs Dr Iroins field at 740 vs San Antonio road cours [cut off] N 84 [degrees] W at 760 small road at 815 vs Another at 960 vs Muckelroys House lying about 30 vs west of the line at 1310 vs Forbes line at 1480 vs Bridget branch, 2 vs wide at 1560 vs Forbes field at 1780 vs his house 10 vs east of the line at 1900 5/10 corner from which a Red Elm 15 in dia brs North 5 vs dist and a maple 11 in dia brs N. 60 1/2 E 5 6/10 vs dist. Thence east 470 vs road to Hotchkiss Mill at 590 vs the Bacey road at 860 vs entered Thorny Field at 950 vs the place of beginning. Surveyed on the 16th day of April 1857. Saml Pollard } J. E. I: J.E. Lemon, a deputy surveyor for the district of Nacogdoches do hereby solemnly swear under my official oath that the survey designated by the forgoing plat and field notes was made by me on the 16th day of April AD 1857 and that the lines boundaries and corners together [cut off]

On motion it was ordered that the Secretary furnish the collector with a copy of the resolution respecting the School House. On motion the board adjourned

July 7th 1851 Board of alderman of the City of Nacogdoches met according to Rules present J H Starr, James Hart, Thos. J Jennings, Henry Raguet, Geo Clevenger & H.H. Edwards. The minutes of the preceding meeting were read and addopted [adopted]. On motion it was ordered that the laws under which the Board was organized should be refered to Thos J. Jennings Esqr. and such associate counsel as he should deem advisable to consider of and report upon on Saturday next, at 10 A. M. On motion the board adjourned until Saturday next 10 am

Nacogdoches 14 July 1851 Board Aldermen of the City of Nacogdoches met by a call a meeting not having been had on Saturday last as intended present J. H. Starr Thos J Jennings Jas Hart Henry Raguet, P U Ford, Geo. Clevenger H H Edwards. Col Jennings who was appointed on the 7 inst to investigate the laws under which we organized, made a verbal report which was received without further action on the subject he also reported an ordinance in regard to nuisances, which was adopted secured and ordered to be published On motion the meeting adjourned

Nacogdoches 4 Augt 1851 Board of alderman of the City of Nacogdoches met by deciding to rule. Present, Jas. H. Starr, T. J. Jennings, Jas Hart, Geo. Clevenger P. U. Ford H. H Edwards The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted. On motion it was resolved that the collection tax list be referred to a committee of two for examination whose certificate of the corrections of said list shall be full evidence thereof, and authorize the collector to collect the taxes assessed, and that one of said list who thus certified shall be delivered to the collector and the other to the treasurer of the corporation
