the absence of either of their officers or their inability to serve, appoint the members of all committee not otherwise provided for and sign all warrants in the Treasurer which may be prepared by the secretary pursuant to appropiations made by the Board, and perform gener= ally such other duties as properly pertain to his position as Preseding [Preceding] officer of the Board. By law 4th:

It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to keep just and true accounts of the funds of the Corporation and make report when required by the Mayor's warrant or a vote of the Board of Alderman. He shall keep a register showing all warrants to [be] paid by him, their number duty to whom payable and accounts and preserve in good order all vouchers and other papers pertaining to his office shall when in funds for that pur= pose pay all warrants which may be drawn in him by the Mayor. Countersigned by the Secretary and none others, and performed all other duties which may be required of him by the Board in which pertain to his office by law or usuage. The amount of the bond required by law of the Treasurer shall until otherwise provided be six hundred dollars. [illegible] [crosswritten]appd apl 22/51

which may be increased by an order of the Board after one months notice thereof.

By Law 5th The Secretary of the Corporation shall keep all books and papers properly appertaining to his office. He shall keep a book of minutes in which shall be noted the proceedings of the Board giving a true history thereof, another book in which be shall write fresh copies of all ordinances and by laws which may be enacted by the Corporation and also a register in which shall be entered when drawn and countersigned by him each warrent on the treasurer showing its number date to whom and when payable and amount and date of the action of the board authorizing the same and shall perform all other duties which may be required by the Bourd or which properly pertain to his office [crosswritten] appr apl 22/51

He shall also give motion of all special meetings of the board where when ordered and publish all ordinances which may be enacted.
