[p.371] December 24 1949 Sat. Donald at Graham's for afternoon. Baked mince pies, went to Taylor's. Very mild. Hung stockings.

1950 Sun. Very cold. I to Carol service in evening. Creightons came in. Hung stockings etc.

1951 Mon. I washed. Put up and trimmed tree. Anne baked cookies. All to Rovilliards to eggnog party. Cold. Jo and I pasted Quarterly dummy.

1952 Wed. Baked mince pies and boys cut out cookies. Anne shopped, Donald and I to bank. Leslie Warden and Shirley came in. Donald drove us to see lighted trees. Willamsons came in.

1953 Thu. To bank and worked in D. P. library. Williamsons here in evening. Hugh put up tree and trimmed it, Creightons came in

[p.372] December 25 1949 Gifts around tree. Donald gave me records of T. S. Eliot Quarterly etc. Played them, turkey table dinner, music, finger painting.

1950 Lovely day. Macbeth and Gracie Fields records, played authors etc. Creightons came here and we played records. Saw lighted trees.

1951 Anne playing [ukulele]. Cates, gifts, all wrote to Mary. Duck for dinner. Lovely day. Harold left for Boston at 6. Snowing.

1952 Mild and wet. Wendy came. Lovely day. Many beautiful books and records. Package from Mary. Goose for dinner. Donald and [Wendy] went out to Grahams. Williamsons came in.

1953 Lovely day. Drove downtown to Creightons. Donald sent books, Mary package and pictures of babies, Roast duck for dinner. Read and played records.

[p.373] December 26 1949 Mon. Wendy came for dinner, she and Donald to Taylors. Raining. Played poker, records. Hugh and Donald left for Chicago.

1950 Tues. Anne washed. Cold. I cleaned. Very cold.

1951 Wed. Typed and cleaned. To Jo Perfect and finished work on Quarterly. Very cold. Heard radio.

1952 Fri. Colder. Wrote letters. Wrote notes and letters. Wendy and Donald went to Graham's. Colder.

1953 Sat. Washed. Snowing. Joan here for dinner. Kenyons here for tea. Hugh's dance - 15 here. Had very good time.

[p.374] December 27 1949 Anne and I washed. Raining. Wrote letters. Anne and I worked on star puzzles.

1950 Wed. Had my hair done. Mary and I took Harold to train for Chicago. Shopped. Only 10 o.

1951 Thu. Hugh and I to store. Cold. They started making rink in garden. Letter from Mary. Anne out.

1952 Sat. To village for meat and bread. Very cold. Donald and Wendy here for lunch. Donald went to Chicago to [American Economic Association]. Anne out at a tea.

1953 Anne off early to bird census. Read and wrote letters and cleaned up after party. Creighton here for tea and Alex Brady.

[p.375] December 28 1949 Wed. Went to bank and store. Mild.

1950 Donald's and Wendy's Xmas parcel came. Thurber books and lovely glasses for me. Anne skating. Worked on " Women Voters" broadcast.

1951 Fri. Letter from Donald. Snowing and very cold. Anne and Hugh working on rink. Hugh out. Heard concert on radio.

1952 Sun. Listened to radio. Wrote letters. Worked on Ann's skirt. Hugh out. Anne had several girls in.

1953 Mon. Had my hair done, got taxi to station, train at 4, Kingston at 7. Little Mary Graham a lovely baby.
