[p.346] November 29 1949 Typed, snowing. Letter from Mary. To [Margaret] Fairley's to reading club with Doris Taylor.

1950 Had permanent. Snowing and slushy. Mrs. Benzanson, Mr. Cole and six men here in evening. Mary out.

1951 Thurs. Man cleaned cellar and I helped. Great improvement. Heleconian dinner.

1952 Sat. Wrote notes. To lunch at Miss Elliot's, Mrs. Knox, Johnson, Rosemary there. Very nice time. Cold. Anne out.

1953 To church. Sorted papers and threw many away. Anne at Rattlesnake Point. Wrote letters.

[p.347] November 30 1949 Wed. Had my hair done. Shopped. Typed. Mild and slushy. Hugh took driving lesson.

1950 Thurs. Downtown shopping. Slushy. Mary and I to library, Harold out. Mary, Anne and I had fish and chips and they played 2 - handed bridge.

1951 Fri. Did errands, mild. sewed and typed. Harold and I President's reception - I poured - lots of people there.

1952 Sun. Wrote notes and addressed copies of President Smith's tribute. Cold. Heard sermon on radio. Alex Brady here for tea. Don Creighton here in evening.

1953 Mon. Washed. Luella came in for coffee. Shopped and to bank. Very cool. Wrote letters and typed.

[p.348] December 1 1949 To CBC to see E. Long. To Young Women Christian Association to world service Fund tea, saw Jo and Miss Fulton. Anne at tennis exhibition match.

1950 Baked Cinnamon bun, shopped. Harold and I to Ottawa, dinner on train.

1951 Washed. To bank and shop and to library. sewed and heard " Traviata" on radio.

1952 Mon. Washed. To Dr. Hilliard to get documents filled out. Wrote notes. Milder. Began work on economy history book.

1953 Tues Worked in Reference library. Got parking sticker for car. Working on Champlain references. Offer for house raise to $20,000 cash. Anne out.

[p.349] December 2 1949 Fri. Typed and shopped. Went to see Beulah Mc Ilwraith. Cold. Harold came back from Ottawa.

1950 Sat. Worked in Parliament library. Went to [National] Gallery, lunch and dinner with Covert and Demarais. Evening with Angus L. at Johnson's.

1951 Sun. Read and knitted and wrote letters. Anne out. Harold and I to tea at Grace and Doug Mackenzie's.

1952 Tues. Snowing. Went to see Dr. Lawson. To bank. To lunch with Anne playing basketball at Hart House.

1953 Shopped downtown for Xmas. Cool and bright. Hugh drove Lois and me down to symphony. Sibelius symphony no.5 . Very fine

[p.350] December 3 1949 Baked 2 pies. Typed. Heard part of " Rosenkavalier". Mended and knitted.

1950 Rain and dull. Worked on suffrage book. To Coats's in evening by taxi.

1951 To "Faculty Wives" meeting and on to Salmagundi lunch. Harold spoke. Dell drove me home. Letter from Mary.

1952 Downtown to shop for Xmas. Sewed on skirt for Anne. Margaret Tanton came for tea. Very cold.

1953 Worked in University library. Lovely weather. Lunch with Laura, Rosemary and Mrs. Elliott at Diana's. People looking at house.
