[p.376] December 29 1949 Anne played badminton. Proof reading novel [manuscripts]. Packed parcel for Mary. Letter from Mary from London.

1950 Fri. To University library. My broadcast on Mrs. Fawcett given on C B L. Hugh, Mary and I to library in evening.

1951 Sat. Baked fruit cake. Milder and melting. Heard " Lucia de Lammermoor" on C B C . Wrote letters.

1952 Mon. Anne washed. I to shop and post office. Wrote letters, finished and typed [manuscripts] of "Living in [Canada]". Anne and Hugh to see Bill Dadson. Alex Brady came in evening.

1953 Bathed baby, talked, mild. Donald went shopping. Wrote letters. Walked around Alamein Drive at night.

[p.377] December 30 1949 Fri. Hugh came back from Chicago. Anne played badminton. Shopped at Yonge street for Hugh's birthday.

1950 Sat. Baked date squares. Anne in bed with flu, Mrs. Taylor came for tea and later Barbara Smith. Hugh at New Year's party. Luella and I to market.

1951 Sun. Harold came home from Boston. Heard symphony. Read and wrote letters. Anne got dinner. she out for supper. Harold and I to Whitely's in evening.

1952 Tues. Shopped downtown and to Lois Thomas's for lunch, Enid and Dorothy there. John Long called up. Worked on papers in study. Delbert Clark called up.

1953 Wed. Cold. I went to store. Bathed baby. Donald and I talked. Bathed baby - she very good Donald reading Wendy and me a French story visemboir.

[p.378] December 31 1949 Sat. Baked and cleaned. Boys waxing floors and hanging streamers. Harold and I to Bladens. Hugh's dace - 25 here, danced till 3:30. Rain

1950 Mary and I to church. Anne letter. Harold back from Chicago. Harold , Mary and I to Kemps - Lovely New Year party. Kenyons there.

1951 Mon. Anne washed. I went to bank and store to shop. Anne at a party. Heard Big Ben in London. Hugh out. Mild.

1952 Wed. Had my hair done. To bank, got ticket to Vancouver and to Fred Kemp's office. Very cold. Got new dressing gown.

1953 Thu. Donald and i to shop for New Year's. Snowing. [Valentyne's] all came for tea. Very cold.
