[p. 366] December 19 1949 Mon. Washed. Had my hair done and shopped. Very mild. Anne and Hugh writing exams.

1950 Tues. To Yonge street. Shopping with Mary. Stores crowded. Making Hugh and Anne sport shirts.

1951 Wed. Had my hair done. Downtown shopping, very crowded. Bright and cold.

1952 Children at post office at night as usual. Shopped. Emily cleaned and washed curtains.

1953 Baked cookies, lebkuchen etc. Wrote letters and cards. Joan came in. To Heliconian Xmas dinner. Lovely music and decorations

[p.367] December 20 1949 Tues. Downtown shopping - crowds. To CBC to see Helen James about radio script.

1950 Wed. Hugh came home. Shopped. Harold and I to dinner at Luella's - Endicott's there, very nice.

1951 Thurs. Heavy snow. Hugh and I shopping for food at village and at Yonge street. Very tired.

1952 Sat. Baked bread. Donald came home and we talked a lot. He to supper at Johnson's. Anne and Hugh to work at post office.

1953 Sun. Anne to Collingwood to ski. Home again, snow melted. All Clarks here for tea, plowed games etc, Delbert went over books.

[p. 368] December 21 1949 Made mincemeat. Harold and I to dinner at Luella's. Carkless's and Robert there. Rain

1950 Hugh and I shopped. Anne's formal dance. Cool and dry. Sent all cards.

1951 Fri. Shopped at Bloor and Yonge. Rain all day, horrible weather. Typed. Harold and Hugh got tru.

1952 Sun. I to church. Lovely service. Donald and I drove to Clark's for tea, snow and slush. Anne to post office. Hugh had [Rey] and skoo here for supper.

1953 Anne washed, I to press, then to Fred Kemps with papers and shopped. Mild and wet. Anne out, Hugh working.

[p.369] December 22 1949 To bank and shopped. Hugh finished exams. He to movies. Anne to dentist.

1950 Fri. Harold, Mary and Hugh in car to farm. Anne made candy, I baked fruit cake and short bread. They came back cold but had good time.

1951 Sat. I sewed on Ann's new red dress all day. Hugh made mincemeat and Anne cookies and candy. Trimmed tree. Anne out to dinner, Hugh to movies.

1952 Mon. I washed. Anne made mincemeat and cranberry relish. Donald and I downtown and I got [reservation] to Vancouver. Donald got Xmas tree. Anne to post office. Helen Ignatieff brot pine branches.

1953 Tues. To bank and store and worked on [Newfoundland] in D.P. library. Snow and rain - very dirty. Typed and wrote letters. Anne and Hugh working.

[p.370] December 23 1949 Donald came in morning. Baked cookies and trimmed tree. Lovely day. Talked to Donald. Luella came in.

1950 Harold, Mary, Anne and I to Yonge street. Crowds in stores. Hugh set up tree, we trimmed it. Mary got diamond ring.

1951 Sun. Anne, Hugh and I to church - very crowded. Heard symphony. Wrote letters.

1952 Tues. To shop at village. Baked fruit cake. Donald and I to dinner at Duff's. Very good time. Hanes there. Wet and mild.

1953 Donald's daughter born 7lb/2oz. Donald called up. Worked all a.m. with Clark and Easterbrook on " Fur Trade", typed all afternoon. Anne out.
