[p. 351] December 4 1949 Sun. Harold went to Ottawa. Big tea at President Smith's . I poured. Hugh and Anne out. Wrote letters. Very mild.

1950 Mon. Raining. Bus ride to Hull. Cleaned up - to top of Peace Tower-- fine view and saw carillon. Dinner with Miss Peron, Covert and Demarais to see "Animal Crackers" and to Miss Peron's.

1951 Tues. Downtown shopping, worked on baby clothes, Nina cleaning. To Hart House with Lois to see Fay's " Bay with a Cart" and " Phoenix too Frequent."

1952 Thur. Cold. To dentist and had filling. To lunch with Frances Gordon and Grace Baker at [University Women's Club] then to talk on Crafts at Museum by Thor Hansen.

1953 Raining. Baked pie and tarts. Anne off to Caledon for weekend. Mrs. Shephard here about house, also other people.

[p. 352] December 5 1949 Washed. To shop and to bank. With Mr. and Mrs. Williamson to Grace Church, Xmas music and Miss Millichamp spoke.

1950 Tues. With Mrs Kennedy to [Federal - Provincial] Conference. Saw all premiers, heard smallwood of [nerdy?] lunch with M. Giraud, bus trip to Riverdale.

1951 Took clothes to Unitarian Church and shopped. To symphony with Lois. Jan Pearce sang - splendid.

1952 Fri. To bank and shopped for Xmas. To lunch with Mises Hay, my safty box opened officially. letter from Mary

1953 Sat. Changed beds. Typed bibliography. Cool and raining. Wrote letters. People to see house.

[p.353] December 6 1949 Tues. Shopped downtown. Very crowded. Typed and wrote Xmas cards.

1950 Wed. Miss Kennedy and I by bus to Wightville and to se Supreme Court building. Lunch with Fred Mc Gregors. Took train at 3:30 Home at 10. Anne got Colours.

1951 Thurs. Ironed and typed. To Ryerson Institute. To lunch with Lois and her friends, she took me around. Shopped. Very mild and wet.

1952 Sat. Changed beds and made deserts. Sewed and knitted. Hugh out shopping. Wendy and Donald came and Bob Barr here for dinner.

1953 Sun. I to church. Hugh and I for diner, he out in afternoon. Anne back from Caledon. I to supper with Bea Wallace and Mary White.

[p.354] December 7 1949 Anne's Gamma won school basketball title. Hugh passed driving test. Wrote letters and typed.

1950 Thurs. Downtown and got silk for Anne's formal. Heavy wind and rain. Wrote letters and unpacked.

1951 Fri. To postal street with parcels and to Heliconian lunch. Listened to radio, sewed and read.

1952 Sun. Donald and I talked and decided various things. Anne to church. Adelaide Sinclair here for tea. Jane Ward came and we went over papers in study. Donald to London.

1953 Mon. Washed. Silka cleaned. To store and post office. Letter from Donald. Galley proof came of " Living in Canada"

[p.355] December 8 1949 Thurs. Typed and baked gingerbread. With Mrs. Dawson to [University Arts Women's Club] Xmas meeting at Women's Union. Miss [Govie] spoke on settlement.

1950 Fri. Mary and I went shopping. Letter from Donald.

1951 Sat. Shopped at village. Began addressing Xmas cards. Colder. Typed and sewed.

1952 Mon. Washed. Mailed parcels to Mary. Filling out forms and writing notes. Mild.

1953 Worked on galley proof. Wrote letters. Went down to Central library.
