[p.26] January 14 1949 Up most of day. Working on " economoc basis of culture" for committee on culture. All oyhers out in evening.

1950 Baked cookies. Went to library and loblaws. Children at movies and playing games. Heard " Luzia di Lammermoor."

1951 Took notes and worked on speech. Heard symphony.Hugh went back at night.

1952 Anne washed. I typed script and letters. TTC strike still on.

1953 Phyllis, Mary, Babies and I to tea with Mrs. Rieves. Rain. Bruce out. Letters from Anne, Hugh and Donald.

[p.27] January 27 1949 SAt. Baked cake. rain and melting. Heard " Amor de Tre Re" and made Mary's taffeta blouse. Harold went to Bretts tea.

1950 Sun. Hard rain all evening. Anne and I to church. Harold back from New York.

1951 Mon. Mary washed. Had my hair done. Girls and I went thru new sick children's [Hospital] with Mrs. Taylor and Minette. Crowds

1952 Tues. Melting, sun shining. With Hugh to University library. Harold and I to banquet in Great Hall for aid to [South East] Asia students.

1953 Thu. Raining hard. To Faculty club at U.B.C. and lunch with Mrs. Mackenzie - very good time. Knitted and talked with Mary.

[p.28] January16 1949 Anne to church and dramatic club. Marry to movie [society.] Read, wrote letters and knitted. mild and damp.

1950 Washed. To University library. Cold and very high wind. Letter from Donald.

1951 shopped and to editorial [committee] at Y. W. Letters from Donald and wrote to him. Colder. Mary at movies.

1952 Anne and I to village to cleaners and Loblaws. Working hard on scripts on status of women etc.

1953 Fri. Mary, baby and I to shop, sunshine and lovely walk. Helped clean house and knitted. Mary and Bruce out. Brucie and I [kept] house.

[p.29] January 17 1949 Mon. Anne did washing before school. Wrote Robin letter. Convened publications [Committee] at [Young Women] and had tea.

1950 Tues. Downtown shopping. Wrote letters. Cold and dry. Letter from Mary.

1951 Wed. shopped. mild. To Art Gallery to see " [film] on Paris" and Rembrandt paintings. Met Kemps - Lovely evening.

1952 Thu. Hugh and I went downtown, got him overcoat and trousers. Drove down, traffic bad.

1953 Sat. Mary and I to lunch at smorgasbord with Mrs. Cates, Mrs. Paul and Phyllis and to see " The Four Poster", lovely afternoon. Mary and I washed, Bruce building car part. Wrote letters!

[p.30] January 18 1949 Had my hair done. Arranged notes, wrote letters. Heavy rain.

1950 Wed. To lunch at museum with Luella and she took me and she took me three Greek collection. Very interesting.

1951 Thu. Mary and I downtown shopping. With Luella to teach English to foreign grad. students at Friends' house.

1952 To bank and library and with Vera B. by taxi to[Bwlar's] tea. Anne playing hockey for Y. C.

1953 Sun. Read, knitted and talked.To Sallie and John Creigtons for dinner, Chants there, very nice.
