[p.36] January 24 1949 Mon. came in with Washed, washer broke down. Mary out for dinner. Sewed on house dress, reading J. S. Eliot.

1950 Had my hair done, rain, sleet. Jo came in with [Itly mss.]

1951 Shopped and to Y.W.C.A. for meeting. Mary out. Letter from Donald.

1952 Snow and very slippery. To [University Arts Women's Club], A.Y. Jackson spoke on paintings and to Helicon club supper- Poetry reading and music. Very nice.

[1953] Sat. Took Boris for a walk. Took Mary, Mrs. Cotes and Phyllis to lunch at Marine Room and to Art Gallery. Very nice. knitted and talked.

[p.37] January 25 1949 Tues. Anne 16. Baked cake. To Yonge street. Very icy and cold. Ann's party at dinner - gave her skirt, blouses, book etc.

1950 Wed. Baked Anne's cake and made candy. her party - gave her slip blouse, gloves, etc. Very nice time. Snow and sleet.

1951 To University Arts Women's club at St. Hilda's. Mrs. Craigic on troubadours. Large meeting, Vera drove me home. Anne's presents at supper.

1952 Fri. Shopped for Ann's birthday. Lunch at Heliconian. Discussed F. P. grove. Baked cake . Snowing hard. Ann's gift and dinner. She is 19!

1953 Sun. Anne 20. Bruce took us a lovely drive thru Burnaby and new Westminster and to seafood dinner at " King Neptune" in New West. Rain . Talked and read.

[p.38] January 26 1949 Had chest x-ray photo, to Eaton's and to see " Snake pit" at the Tivoli. Very good indeed.

1950 Thu. Lunch of University Arts Women's Club at Lichee Garden - crowd there. Very nice. Dr. Walmsley on China. Australia Burtons - here in evening.

1951 Shopped, Hugh came home. Anne to her school formal. dinner etc.

1952 Baked fruit bread, cookies etc. Heard "Pagliacci" and "Cavellievia" on radio. Hugh out.

1953 Mon. Mary and I took baby out. I downtown to bank, saw musical, Worked on Saturday night crossword puzzle. Clear view of [nights] Bruce very late.

[p.39] January 27 1949 Thu. Wrote to Ed. Took ties to cleaner, to art gallery and saw classical exhibit from Metropol N.Y.

1950 Fri. To printer and oculist. got RX for bifocals. Lunch at park plaza with Burton's, Alex and Griff. Bright and cold.

1951 Sat. Baked brown bread, Anne baked her cake. Her party at night - Ice Cream, cake etc.

1952 Sun. 7 or 8 people in department. to tea. Blacks, Hoods, Helleiners etc.Anne and I to church and communion. Icy and very cold.

1953 Tue.Mary and I cleaned silver. To lunch at Maurice's in north Van with Lois Keror and Mary. Fine view of mountains. Mary and Bruce out.

[p.40] January 28 1949 To Y.W.C.A.[Young Women's Committee Association] for meeting, got history [mss? ]at Ryerson and took it to Mc Clelland and Stewart. Harold went to Timmins.

1950 Sat. Sewed on Anne's blouse. Wrote at story " On to Boston" I to movie - "chilttern Hundred"

1951 Sun. I went to church. Bill Dadson here for supper, told stories. Hugh left.

1952 Washed. Very cold. Making Anne's black velvet jerkin. Typed and mended. Hugh at Reference library.

1953 Wed. Mary, baby and I to Zelda [Flowerdus] for coffee. Baked bread. Mrs. Cates and Phyllis here for tea. Mary and I to Marguerite Court's for dinner. Rain all day. Letter from Anne.
