[p.21] January 9 1949 Sun. In bed with bronchitis. Anne cooked fine dinner and gave me a musical powder box. Read and slept. Very hoarse.

1950 Mon. Anne washed. I to CBC to rehersal. Record made of my talk. Heard my own voice.Very tired.

1951 Tues. Mary and I shopped and to lunch at Mrs. Baker's for Mary. Lovely lunch and Mary got beautiful cook book. Anne came home.

1952 Wed. Met Lois, Dinner at Child's and to symphony. Heard Moura symphony. Got 2 lifts on way home and walked long way.

1953 Fri. I have intestinal flue- looked after Bruce in afternoon. Went to bed early. Cold but clear.

[p.22] January 10 1949 Mon. Anne washed, worked at library and cooked all meals. Mary out. My cough very bad.

1950 Hair done and shopped. Rain and melting. Umson came in. Reading " Classical Background of English Literature."

1951 Hugh came home- exams over. Addressed cards for our tea, my broadcast - " Women Voters abroad."

1952 to bank and Loblaws, walked home. Made two night gowns for little bruce. Heard citizen's Forum.

1953 SAt. Played with Brucie, read and helped Mary clean. Knitted, mild and damp. Mary and I had tea and heard "Mustersinger."

[p.23] January 11 1949 Tues. Anne worked at library . On radio program and wone sweater. Jo Perfect came to go over quarterly agenda.

1950 Wed. To Mrs. Smith's to write invitations for tea. Mary Umson came here to stay. Heard " Don Giovanni" on radio.

1951 Thur. To Mrs. McFarlanes and addressed invitations for tea. Mild. Anne's school began.

1952 Fri. Had my hair done, shopped and sent nightgown to Mary. writing script.

1953 Sun. Mild and bright. Wrote letters. Bruce took us on some house calls and to see Mrs. Cates. Rain in evening. Mary and I knitted and talked.

[p.24] January 12 1949 Took to mustard plasters, Read and knitted, cough bad, heard Syngi's " Well of the Saints" on radio.

1950 Thur. Mary [Williamson] in bed with cold. Mended, cooked etc. Mild and wet.

1951 To lunch at Heleconian- discussed Fry's plays, to [Young Women Publications committee] meeting. Children out.

1952 Baked pumpkin pies and cooked roast. Anne and Hugh out. Heard Mozart's' " Cosi fan tutti."

1953 Mon. Mary and I took baby to Safeway to shop. Light rain. Phyllis, Mary and I to University Women's Club to hear Soward, Bruce had a tooth out.

[p.25] January 13 1949 Thu. Anne started schol. I dressed first time. Knitted and read. Felt very weak.

1950 Fri. Hard rain. My CBC talk on D.P's " Mr. Prime Minister" went all right. Shopped and to committee on culture. Harold to New York.

1951 Sat. Baked cookies and bread. Mary and I heard " Il Trovatore " on radio. I mended. Rosie Duff here for dinner. Mary had bridge party.

1952 Sun. Cough worse. Anne to church. Read and heard symphony and wrote letters.

1953 Tues. Took Brucie a walk. Rain. Mary, baby and I to tea at Jean Benson's across street. Lovely house. Bruce out. Mary and I read and knitted.
