[p.13] January 1 1949 Sat. Snowing and very cold. Mary had party - showed pictures from trip abroad.Very good. [Anne] skiing.

1950 Sun. Mild and raining. Hugh had several boys here. Alex Brady here in evening. Wrote letters. Hugh to midnight movie.

1951 Mon. Mild and sunny. Hugh made pancakes, Anne washed. I worked on broadcast. Anne played tennis at church.

1952 Tues. Colder. Wrote on script, Anne got dinner. Sewed and listened to radio. Harold and I to Le Bourdais' - Very nice time.

1953 Mild. Anne got dinner. Anne, Hugh and I to movie to see " Where Charlie?" Walked home. Anne and I sewed on her tartan skirt and played.

[p.14] January 2 1949 Sun. Anne at summit skiing all day, Hugh tobogganing. Mary and Harriet here for dinner. Harriet left for Dayton. Cold.

1950 Mon. Anne and I washed. Anne and I to vote. Warm, drizzle and dense fog. Dinner with Creighton's at Murray and to Brown's reception, then here.

1951 Typed broadcast. Anne playing badminton. To lunch with Enid [McQueen] and Lois Thomas - vert nice. Heard symphony on radio. Hugh left.

1952 Wed. Ann playing badminton. Heard " messiah" on radio. Mild and melting. Wrote letters.

1953 Fri. To bank and met Bea Cassidy for lunch. Anne and I to [Williamson's] for tea. Anne and Hugh both out. Donald Creighton here in evening

[p.15] January 3 1949 Mon. Anne and I washed. Anne worked in library. Hugh to school. I went to University library. Harold and I had tea. Reading Donne.

1950 Tues. Muggy. Hugh to school. Went to stores and bank. Wrote letters and did lots of phoning.

1951 Wed. Rain. Worked in reference library all morning. Hugh writing exam at [McMaster.]

1952 Thur. To Yonge street to shop. TTC strike - no cars or buses. More snow. Anne had friends in for party.

1953 Sat. Baked mince pie, sewed socks. Wendy and Donald here. Alex Brady and Mrs. Ward came. Many phone calls. Children put me on train at 11 p.m. for Vancouver.
