(Face Cosmetics) de Medicamine faciei or Medicamina faciei Feminae. -only 100 lines left, the rest being lost. -deals with the female use of cosemetics. it is earlier than the Ana Amatoria. Nux - a poem about a nut tree. Its authenticity has frequently been challenged.

Part I - 2a heroides. 44a extracts from Suidas, etc. on Sapphio, followed by [?rescaipto?] Ulixis ad Penelopen etc. 48b amous. 75a de arte amandi, 99b de remedio amoris. 108a Ibis. 115a fasti. 167a de tristibus. 205a de Ponto. 240a de pulice etc. 244b conadetio ad biuiam.

One of the 3 major poets of Latin tradition. Ovid made his primary contribution to Western literature in the Metamorphoses, a cleverly assembled verse sythesis of the myth of transformation. In most of the tales a human being is changed into a nonhuman form befitting his action and personality. The transformation theme which permeates so much medieval and Renaissance literature is derived from the Metamophoses. Medicamina - celebrates beauty, love and the kind of sophistication which improves on nature. The introduction is a lecture on the theme culta placent (11.3-50) the appeal of culture in the broadest sense of the word, including bodily care.
