Woman's Club meeting May 11, 1933

The May meeting of the woman's club was held on the second Thursday at 3.30 in the club house with the president, Mrs. Rivers presiding. The meeting opened with the salute to the flag led by Mrs. Boone, followed by the reading of the club creed in unison.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was read by Mrs. Rivers as follows:

House Fund –$00.00 Checking Fund .63 Beautification 84.99 Conservation 2.00 Welfare 10.34

May party 33.35 Flower Show 34.15

An inspring message from the general Federation club Woman was read by Mrs. Rivers. Mrs. Boone presented the matter of signing the petition for disarmament, sent out by The Women's League for Peace, and distributed the petition. Mrs. Norwood took the chair while Mrs. Rivers gave her annual report for the year past. Mrs. Rivers said that fine work has been done by all committees, but the out standing work of the year has been along welfare lines, this being so desperately needed. She expressed her heart-felt appreciation of the co-operation of the board, the chairmen, and club members. At the close of the report Miss Greggs, in a few well chosen words, presented

Mrs. Rivers a pair of silver candle sticks as a gift of love from the board. Again Mrs. Rivers expressed her appreciation.

Splendid reports were mady by the following chairmen.

Mrs. Bostain, welfare: A tremendous amount of work has been done. Over 6000 garments have been collected and distributed among the needy. $60.00 given toward milk funds. $5.00 for quinine. $7. 70 for soup. $2.50 for needy man. Many garments give hospital for charity patients.

Miss Gregg, Education: Interesting meeting were held monthly, with special programs.

Mrs. Ponton, Publicity: Many announcments and articles for the press–

Mrs. Green, Club House: Much work done, repairs made, etc –

Mrs. Duvall, Decoration – Decorated club house for all occasions

Mrs. Boone, Citizenship: Arranged programs on citizenship.

The following officers were them installed: Pres. Mrs. Ben Bostain V. Pres. Mrs. Gerald Ponton Con. Sec. Mrs. Ralph Grawling Treas. Mrs. E. G. Rivers

An invitation was extended the members to attend the garden party atthe home of Mrs. W. C. Hodges. Mrs. Rivers asked those who had not done so if they would contribute towards defraying the expenses of the reception recently given
