[Tuesday 23 January 1951]

Up at 9 and left for rehearsal at 11 returning at 1:30 had lunch at hotel tip.50, called Mrs Musser, had visit from young girl who wants to write in my employ.

Went at 8:30 to Northrup Auditorium sang 8 numbers with the Orchestra under Anton Dorati, to a not too large audience but a most enthusiastic one. The Pflaums + Gaines took us to late supper at Charlies

Returned to hotel after midnight, retired at 2+ but awake til after 3.

[Wednesday 24 January 1951]

Up at 5:50 packed and left hotel at 7:15 lozengers .25 left 1.00 tip for maid. Breakfast on train porter .50 arrived Chicago 2:30. Wire to Dr Maxwell 1.60 phoned Danbury 2.65 magazine .50 juice .10. Interviewed at station, boarded train for New York at 4:20, had dinner in the diner. Gave Jofe check for accumulated expenses on tour 182.92 hotel 69.51

Retired at 9:30

[Thursday 25 January 1951]

Up at 7:50 arrived at Harmon 8:32 Freibe met me, we drove home and I prepared breakfast then took a look at new paint in my room. Tallman working on third floor Went to Danbury bot shoes at Lane's 27.44, vegetables at Frostar 4.85 + 18 at Super market, 1.15 Merrills' 2.55 Targetts 2.25 parking .10 Dicks .40 Back home I baked a cake and prepared dinner. Watched T.V., had cake + apple juice, talked a long time to Pauline and Alyse. called Franz.

Retired at 12:45

Expenditures pullman porter 1.50 Red cap .75 car from Harmon 15.00

[Friday 26 January 1951]

Up at 8:15 bathed had breakfast + left on 10:12 to New York Worked with Steffi and Franz then went to studio for recordings, but was so tired out that I did not attempt to use the session. I went to Sterns, purchase 2.81 then picked up my cleaning at the hotel, and got the 4:02 train. Dinner at 6:30 watched 2 plays, did a bit of laundry and retired at 10:45

Expenditures fare to N.Y. 1.82 + 1.82 back transportation to Franz 1.00 " " station 1.50 " " studio .20 " back home 1.50

[Saturday 27 January 1951]

Up at 10 after fair night Bathed and had breakfast at 11, called Mae re postponement of recording session. Made out check of 2.50 hospital benefit tickets, 25.00 to Freibe for provisions, 10.00 cash '" " on acct. for transportation to + from Brewster + Harmon Answered some letters then washed + dressed my hair. Dinner at 6:30 coat loop 1.00 3.50
