[Sunday 28 January 1951]

Up at 10 + bathed had brunch at 11+ cry baby. Did nothing of great importance whole day but the time got away some how. Long talk to Philadelphia made out check dated 27 inst. to Dr Carpinelli for Jim's treatment and steel arch 75.00 Dinner at 6:15 watched T.V. and retired at midnight cry baby.

[Monday 29 January 1951]

Up at 9:15 bathed, had breakfast at 10:20 packed sorted music, talked with Jofe re transportation to Patterson concert to-night. Weather treacherous. Called Ethel about freezer needs. Gave Freibe checked of 696 73/100 still tired, slept not badly but not enough. Had dinner at 2:30 got train to New York at 4:14 fare 3.65 trans. to station 1.50 porter .30 cab .50 registered at hotel + left immediately for Paterson, roads better than in Connecticut. Concert good wonderful audience Y M + Y W H A auspices at High School . Back at hotel ordered late supper, tip .50 bell boy .50 called Freibe and retired at 2 A.M.

[Tuesday 30 January 1951]

Up at 8:50 bathed, breakfast at 10 Called Franz + Mae Jofe came + brot recording. Hotel bill 28.46 maid .50 porter .50 doorman .25 cab .50 red cab .30 pastry 1.10 newspaper + magazine .30 Left New York at 11 arrived Brewster at 12:49, trans home 1.50 had snack went to Danbury. drug store .91 Mohican 2.78 back home at 4. Dinner at 6:30 after T.V. U.N. session. More T.V. then fixed Freibe some hot chocolate to ease his head ache. Called Philadelphia and retired about 11:30

Up at 9:30 bathed and had breakfast at 10:30 checked bank statement from [leornex?]. Seamstress 9.20, S.N.E. Tel 89.90 and Paul Tallman 36.00, all checks made on D.N.B.

[Thursday, February 1, 1951]

Up at 7:45 bathed, Freibe prepared breakfast. Packed, called station again train still 15 minutes late. Thurston picked me up at 10:10 and in the meantime the train had made up some time so we missed the express. The next local got me to New York just in time for my appointment. Fare 3.65 porter 1.00 checking .15 cab .75. Piatigorsky was in the studio and pretty soon Franz arrived and we three recorded Carry me back and Kentucky Home. Left R.C.A at 4:30 and Jofe took me to his place. I washed up and we went at 5:30 to Russian Tea Room for dinner. On return to Jofe's, news about departure change, Jofe exchanged reservations. I dressed and we went to the Met. to see Die Walküre performance. [Impressed in?] spots. Had to leave before [end?] second act. Boarded 11 P.M. train to Rochester porter 1.00 Retired 12:10 cabs [88.05?]
