STARTLING WEAKNESS.

sands of cases where others have failed. Most of these cases can be treated by us when at a distance just as well as if they were here in person. Since our experience has enabled us to judge of the nature and extent of the disease from a written description of the symptoms, and from answers to questions which we ask, we can therefore adapt remedies to suit each individual case. Not one out of five hundered, of those whom we have cured, have we ever seen. We fully sympathize with this class of sufferers, and those who confide their secrets to us do not run the least risk of exposure. All communications are regarded as sacredly confidential(italics). Since many are very sensitive lest somebody will know that they are afflicted with those diseases, great precaution is always taken by us to send all letters and medicines in plain packages, carefully sealed, so that no one can even suspect(italics) the contents or by whom sent. Those persons who desire further information upon the weaknesses incident to men(italics), are referred to "The People's Common Sense Medical Adviser." On account of the alarming prevalence of these affections, and the very unsatisfactory manner in which they are treated by the general practitioner, about thirty pages are devoted to the consideration of these important diseases. The causes are plainly pointed out, the symptoms graphically portrayed, and the rational treatment for such affections fully discussed. The book, which also embraces the subjects of Physiology and Hygiene, will be sent (post-paid) to any address on receipt of $1.50. Postal Orders, or Drafts on New York, may be made payable either to our Association or to our Treasurer, Mr. LESTER B. SMITH, to whom registered letters may also be addressed.

A Pamphlet, entitled "Abuse of the Male Reproductive Organs and the Diseases to Which it Gives Rise," embracing numerous testimonials of cure, sent post-paid on receipt of one stamp. Address all communications to the WORLD'S DISPENSARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, Buffalo, N. Y.

THE LONDON BRANCH of the World's Dispensary is at the Great Russell Street Buildings (near British Museum).

WONDERFUL PROSPERITY. - Although the Invalid's Hotel is the largest private sanitarium in the world, yet such of late has been the pressure upon its resources, that a great enlargement has been found necessary to accommodate all applicants for admission. The new addition is now completed and ready to recieve patients. Those desiring accommodations should apply early. There are none of the objectionable features of a hospital; patients have nice comfortable rooms, parlors, and as fine beds are as found in the very best hotel. There are no cases of fever, contagious or loathsome diseases, but all are happy and comfortable. Come and see.

READER, will you do us a favor? This Memorandum Book is a gratuity to all who recieve it. As a token of appreciation, we would be pleased to receive from every person who reads this, the names and post-office addresses of all invalids within the knowledge of the reader. To all such we will send our "Invalids' Guide Book," copiously illustrated, treating chronic diseases, and giving many testimonials of cures. Send us as large a list as possible, but send only the names of afflicted persons in the need of skillful treatment. Address, WORLD'S DISPENSARY MEDICAL ASSOCIATION, Buffalo, N. Y.

HOME TESTIMONY. - Commenting on Dr. PIERCE'S Medical Faculty, the Buffalo Express says: "By associating with himself only those physicians and surgeons who possess the most thorough qualifications, varied and extensive experience, Dr. PIERCE is entitled to the utmost confidence of his patients, whose best interests he seems ever anxious to subserve."

Dr. PIERCE has now been before the general public long enough to enable the formation of a careful estimate of the efficiency of his treatment and his medicines, and the verdict, we are glad to know, has been universally favorable to both. - Toledo Blade(italics) 40

JOY TO INVALIDS

That thousands of cases of chronic disease, pronounced incurable, have, by our rational and scientific treatment, been restored to perfect health, is conclusively proved by the records of practice at the World's Dispensary and Invalids Hotel. Here, in obstinate cases, are brought to bear all the most scientific remedial appliances and methods of treatment.

A system of mechanical movements, passive exercises, manipulations, kneadings, and rubbings, administered by a large variety of ingeniously-contrived machinery, driven by steam power, has been found especially efficacious and valuable, as an aid to medical and surgical treatment, in the cure of obstinate cases of nervous and sick headache, constipation, paralysis, or palsy, stiffended joints, crooked and withered limbs, spinal curvature, tumors, diseases of women, especially displacements of the uterus; as prolapsus, retroversion and anteversion, chronic inflammation, enlargement and ulceration of the uterus, and kindred affections; also nervous debility, sleeplessness, and most chronic diseases. Mechanical power, or force, is by these machines transmitted to the system, in which it is transformed into vital energy and physical power or strength. This mechanical, passive exercise, or movement-cure treatment, differs widely from, and should not be confounded with, "Swedish movements," to which it is far superior in efficacy. Coupled with our improved equalizing vacuum treatment, or dry cupping, it affords the most perfect system of physical training and development ever devised. For the restoration of power to wasted, underdeveloped, or weakened organs or parts, or for their enlargement, this combined movement and vacuum treatment is unequaled. It can be applied to strengthen or enlarge any organ or part. We also employ dry electricity, electric, chemical, Turkish, Russian, Roman, and other baths, in all cases in which we think them indicated. Inhalations, administered by means of the most approved apparatus, are employed with advantage in many obstinate lung, bronchial, and throat affections. We have no "hobby" or one-idea system of treatment, no good remedial means being overlooked or neglected.

TO THE AFFLICTED. - We earnestly invite you to come, see and examine for yourself our institution, appliances, advantages, and success in curing cases. Have a mind of your own. Do not listen to or heed the counsel of skeptical friends or jealous physicians, who know nothing of us, our system of treatment, or means of cure, yet never lose an opportunity to misrepresent and endeavor to prejudice people against us. We are responsible to you for what we represent, and if you come and visit our institution, and find that we have misrepresented, in any particular, our institution, advantages, or success, we will promptly refund to you all expenses of your trip. We court honest, sincere investigation, have no secrets, and are only too glad to show all interested and candid people what we are doing for suffering humanity.

REMARKABLE CURES. - We can mention but briefly only a very few of the thousands of remarkable cures performed by the Faculty of the World's Dispensary and Invalid's Hotel. Many thousands of cases of delicate diseases cannot be even referred to, as we have no right to divulge the patients' names.

CONSUMPTION. - Alexander T. Filkins, of Kansas City, Mo., was cnred of consumption by four months' treatment. Embarrassed breathing, harassing cough, great emaciation, night-sweats, and bloating indicated second stage of disease. He says: "I weigh ten pounds more than ever before, and am in perfect health and strength." The following are taken from our long list of cases cured of consumption: Miss A. M. Cutler, Bath, Me.; D.S. Drake, Washington, Pa.; Alfred A. Dumas, Fall River, MAss (had severe hemorrhage from lungs); S. Newland, 746 Seneca st., Buffalo; Jas. Murphy, Syracuse, N.Y., Mrs. J.H Herring, 232 Carolina street, Buffalo; John Hay, Jamestown, N.Y.; Jas. I. Elliot, Renovo, Pa.; 42
