Front line BHQ at X.25b.10.45. 4 No change in disposition. Battalion advanced to its objective - the sunken road in front of the Brickfield at K.26.a.35.75. Heavy opposition from enemy Machine Guns and Artilery was encountered. At 11.00 a.m. enemy planes flew over our lines, dropping bombs and firing machine guns, for about fifteen minutes. At night Battalion was relieved by 85th Battalion KCC? and moved in support at ST.SAULVE. Casualties Other Ranks - 22 wouded and 2 killed. "B" Echelon moved from WAVERCHAIN-Sur-DENAIN to VALENCHIENNES. Weather fair.

ST. SAULVE. 5 Two companies moved forward in support of 85th Battalion at 10.00 a.m. Remainder of Companies and Battalion Headquarters moved forward to ONNAING at 3.00 p.m. Casualties one other Rank wounded. Weather dull. KCC?

ONNAING 6 Battalion in billets at ONNAING. Relieved in evening by 22nd Canadian Infantry Battalion and marched to ANZIN, arriving at 6.30 p.m. B.H.Q. at 236 Rue de Conde, ANZIN. Weather dull and raining. KCC?

ANZIN (98 Rue de Conde) 7 Battalion billeted in ANZIN. "B" Echelon moved from 23 Rue de MONS, VALENCIENNES, and joined rest of Battalion at ANZIN. B.H.Q. at 98 Rue de Conde. Battalion resting and reorganizing. Weather dull. KCC?

do 8 Battalion cleaning up. Pay Parade in afternoon. Weather dull. KCC?

do 9 Battalion cleaning up. Party of one Officer and fifty other ranks detailed as working KCC? party on new rifle range. Weather fair.

do 10 Weather fair. Roman Catholic Church parade to church in VALENCIENNES at 10.00 a.m. Protestant Church Parade on Battalion Parade Ground at 10.30. Sport in afternoon. KCC? Concert in brewery in evening - free beer.

do 11 Morning fair, afternoon - raining. Battalion in training. News announced that hostilities would cease at 11.00 a.m. this date - given out on C.O.'s parade and was received with very KCC? little enthusiasm;

ANZIN 12 Battalion in training. Bath Parade to VALENCHIENNE in morning but baths were not available until afternoon. Fire broke out in Battalion Headquarters at 2.30 p.m. and was quenched about 5.00 p.m. All records and hourse? furniture saved, and picquet was placed on and around KCC? property. B.H.Q. moved to 216 Rue de Conde. Weather fair.

ANZIN (216 Rue de Conde) 13 Battalion in training. Warning Order received to be prepared to commence march to Soblens?, Germany, on the 13th inst. Officers' Mess dinner at 7.30 p.m. to Brigade Staff and Battalion KCC? Commanders. Weather dull.

do 14 Battalion in preparation for move to Germany. Conference of Company Commanders held at 8.30 and Battalion Commanders' Conference at 12th Canadian Infantry Brigade Headquarters at 2.30 p.m. KCC? Billeting Party of one Officer and six other ranks, on bicycles, moved forward in evening.

do 15. Battalion fell in at 11.00 a.m. and moved from starting point at 11.42 and marched to KCC? BAISIEUX arriving at 4.30 p.m. Battalion Headquarters at 164 Rue de LOUISE. Weather fine.

BAISIEUX 16 Battalion left starting point at S.18.c.25.55. at 9.00 a.m. and continued march to PETIT WASMES, arriving at noon. B.H.Q. at 130 Rue de Bahut. Weather fair and cold. KCC?

PETIT-WASMES 17 Weather fine and cold. Roman Catholic Church Parade at 9.00 am. to R.C. Church in WASMES. KCC? Protestant Church Parade at 10.00 a.m. in church at WASMES. Commanding Officer meets all Officers of the Battalion in conference at Headquarters Mess at 10.30.. Bath Parade to baths in WASMES Mines in afternoon. Staff parade of N.C.O.'s at 4.30 p.m.

do 18 Snowing and Raining. Battalion in Training. Short Route March in full marching order, KCC? in forenoon. Sport in afternoon.

do 19 Weather dull. Battalion in training. Preparation for resumption of march next day. KCC?

do 20 Misty and cold. Battalion left WASMES at 9.15 for CIPLY arriving at 12.30. B.H.Q. at KCC? No. 1 Rue de FAISSEAU.

do 27 Weather fair. Battalion in training. B.H.Q. removed from No.1Rue de Faisseau to Schoolhouse on Rue NEUVE, owing to lack of accomodation. Five Officers proceeded to BRUSSELS and WATERLOO. KCC?

Inspection of Brigade by Sir David L.Watson, KCB, CMG, G.O.C. 4th Canadian Division, and presentation of decoration ribbons. 38th Battalion judged winners of pride of place wtih a total of 423 points - 85th Battalion coming second with 405 points. KCC? One offcer and 33 Other Ranks granted passes to BRUSSELS and Field of WATERLOO.

Officer in Charge of Educational Organization for this unit. Meeting of all Officers held in B.H.Q. at 8.00 p.m. to discuss matters relative to inauguration of classes, etc.
