Mrs. M. W. Daniels,

Newton, Mass.

Dear Madam: -

The gardener replanted the myrtle on one grave in your lot but found that the expense of all the repairs would be so high that I thought you should be written to before going on with the work. The expense of putting the balance of the myrtle in repair will be forty dollars ($40.00) and in view of that the work will be delayed until I hear from you.

Respectfully yours,

[?] Sup't.

Chiefe of Police Cambridge, Mass.

Dear Sir: -

Residents on the upper end of Brattle and Mt. Auburn Sts. and visitors to Mt. Auburn on Decoration day, have complained to me of the pedlers and of the punch and judy and other small shows, attracted by the crowds on that day, which are undoubtedly a great nuisance to those who live near and to those who desire to visit their lots in the cemetery.

I respectfully request your assistance in suppressing this nuisance and am satisfied that any efforts in this direction will be duly appreciated by the lot owners here and by the citizens of Cambridge.

Respectfully yours,

Sup't.

#2767 to #2771-S.

Arthur P. Vinal, Esq.,

Somerville, Mass.

Dear Sir: -

Your note is received. I regret the delay in forwarding the estimate. The cost of removing the myrtle and sodding over the 17 myrtle graves will be two dollars a grave. The cost of regrading and sodding the flower borders on three sides of the lot will be fifty dollars ($50.00). I find on examining the lot that it is full of weeds which nothing short of regrading will remove and as the expense of regrading the whole enclosure, enriching and sowing with grass seed will only be eighty five dollars ($85.00). I would suggest that this be done in place of the partial repairs to the sod. There is rather too much shade near these lots and I think the tree on the left hand rear corner might with advantage come away.

There are some six (6) or seven (7) granite posts not needed to define the boundaries of the lot and its appearance would be much improved by their removal.

Respectfully yours,

Sup't.
