100 Columbia Jan 8th 1895 The Town Council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Hutchenson presiding Roll Call and the following councilmen present McKay Chase & Groat The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. Councilman Chase [?] of sickness The oath of office of councilmen elect Groat & Almquist and & Mayor elect Pierson read and ordered placed on file and the Mayor Pierson and councilmen Almquist take then respective seats. The oath of office of O A Schade as Treasurer elect read and ordered placed on file. The motion to establish the Clerk's salary at $50.00 per year was lost for the want of a second to, and the same was the result of the motion to make the Marshall salary $25.00 per year. Made and carried to adjourn to meet Thursday Jane 10th at 7:30 PM B R Shaw town clerk Approved Jan 10th 1895 V R Peirson mayor

143 Columbia Jan 10th 1895 The Town Council met pursuant to adjournment. Mayor Pierson presiding Roll Call and the following council men present McKay, Calder, Groat, Chase and Almquist the minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. The motion to establish the Clerk's salary at $50.00 per year lost for want of a second and the motion to establish the Clerk's salary at $100. per year carried The motion to establish the Marshal's salary at $25. per year was lost and a motionwas made and carried to establish the Marshals salary at $50. per year Motion made and carried to establish the Attorney's salary at $120.00 year. On motion the following officers was chosen for the next year For Clerk B R Shaw For Marshall J C Huff For Attorney L E Thompson For Police Justice C R Hepler On motion the officers chosen was requested to give bonds as follows Treasurer O A Schade $2500.00 Marshal J C Huff 200.00 Clerk Shaw 200.00 Police Justice C R Hepler $50.00 Attorney Thompson $300.00 On motion the Attorney was instructed to draw an ordinance defining the Duties of the Marshal On motion councilman McKay was instructed to employ an attorney to draw an ordinance defining the duties of the City Attorney On motion the officers requested to have their bonds ready the next regular meeting Motion made to adjourn until the first Monday in Feb B R Shaw town Clerk Approved Feb 4th 1895 V R Peirson mayor

144 Columbia Feby 4th 1895 The Town Council met persuant to adjournment Mayor Pierson presiding Roll Call and the followingCouncilmen present; McKay, Groat & Almquist The minutes of the last meeting read and on motion approved. A communication from Fred H Peterson in reference to the suit to reclaim the land known as Park read and on motion ordered placed on file and on motion the Park Committee discharged from further service. Report from the Marshal Brown reand and on motion accepted and ordered placed on file. A petition from Rainier Lodge #184 I O G P read asking for better protection of their property and on motion the same was ordered placed on file. and a committee of one appointed to inform the members of the Columbia Athletic Club that unless better usuage of the Hall and contents is maintained they will be refused the use of same. Ordinance #50 fixing the bonds and the compensation of the Officers of the Town of Columbia read and on motion passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor. Ordinance #51 defining the duties of the City Attorney and fixing his compensation read and on motion passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor The folllowing standing committees are appointed by the Mayor. On Water Councilmen Calder, Groat and Almquist On Streets and Alleys, Almquist, Chase and McKay On Finance, McKay, Groat & Chase On Health, Groat, Calder & Chase On Public Buildings and Wharves, Chase, McKay and Calder Bill from D C Brown for salary for the month of January as Marshal $8.33 read and on motion the same was ordered paid.

104 Columbia Feby 9, 1895 Town Council met persuant to adjournment. Mayor Pierson presiding Roll call and the following councilen present. Groat, McKay & Almquist The Reading of the minutes of the last meeting postponed until next meeting Mayor Pierson reported the return of a warrant issued to Fred H Peterson for$100.00 and the same was turned over to the Clerk and ordered marked void. Councilman McKay reported that he had seen the officers of the Columbia Athletic Club and that they have promised to take proper care of the Town Hall and contents, The City Attorney reported on the standing of the surities on the bonds of the Treasurer, and Marshal, Police Justice, Attorney and Clerk and on motion the Committee givenfurther time to make final report. The bonds of the Attorney read and on motion laid on the table until next meeting The Auditing Committee granted extension of time to make their report. On motion the committee on Public Buildings & Wharves; instructed to secure lamps and stoves for the Town Hall. The I O G P having given notice that they should remove theirs. On motion the committee on Health is charged and a committee consisting of Councilmen Groat, Calder and Chase appointed called the Board of Helath. On motion councilman McKay granted three months leaf of absence. On motion Marshal Huff ordered to take his office Motionmade and carried to adjourn to next Friday Feby 15 at 7:30 P M at the Town Hall B R Shaw townclerk Approved Feb 15th V R Peirson

105 Columbia Feb 15th 1895 Town Council met pursuant to adjournment Mayor Pierson presiding Roll call andthe following councilmen persnet. Almquist Calder & Groat The minutes of thelast meeting read and corrected and on motion approved. The auditing committee find the books all correct as fas as they have investigated and ask for more time to complete the investigation and on motion same so granted The committee on public buildings and Wharves ask for more time to get the necessary repairs for the City Hall Motion made and carried that the Tresurer, Clekr and Police Justice have untilFeb 23rd to file then bonded in Motion made and carried dto adjourn the meet in Monday March 4th at 8 o'clock at the Town Hall.
