Maiyamâs. This is a small village situated between two wadis on a gentle slope. There are no signs of there ever having been a large town here in ancient times, the only ruins being those of a large church high up on the slope and of a bath in the lower part of the village near the water course.

The ruined church is now inhabited - it is the house of the Sheikh - and the modern mud plaster with which the interior is covered renders a thorough study of the interior impossible. An examination of the outer walls on all sides except the North, where the wall is new reveals the fact that two small square buildings situated on ax at a distance of about 10 m. were connected by two walls, the E. wall of one and the W. wall of the other having been secured, and thus converted into a structure of basilical form. A doorway was broken through the S. wall of the muslim building and two portals were provided
