Dear Sir
We are this moment going to march & we thought by the way of Wake Court House, but When under Arms, our Rout was alterd & we are going directely among the Scotch men who are Embodied in Cumberland County near X Creek & it is said to the amd. of abt. 3,000 men under good Officers & regulations. The Kings Standard is to be erected at X Creek this day, we shall I make no doubt have warm work, the regulators are I believe Chiefly dispersed, nothing but Scotch, to attack ~ my Friend James, should anything Prevent my ever returning my Will & all my
Cash, Papers, etc : are in my Little Blue Trunk Standing on the Chest of Drawers, Mr. Johnston who is now in his Bed very sick, begs your Care & attention to his Mill Dam and every thing abt. his Plantation you I Presume are well acquainted with the Business of the Granville St. House that went down Last night, should you be unacqted. they went after [Tories?] in Bute, among which your Old Dad, he is capitalled Charged, and will I make no doubt be found Guilty - God Help you Dear Jimmy & be assd. As sundry trifles of low prices, all of great value from their scarcity in Transylvania hope if there should be any such in your store you'l be so kind as to let my Brother Nathaniel have them -- I shall be at your house in a few days (God willing) and will discharge the amount -- almost my whole Famaly are sick, and at this time a Considerable fever on my self, so that I cant write. [Blanter-Hall?] July [4th?] 1777 Dear Sir I have in a Manner finished my [illegible] at which Mr. Bennehan became a [illegible] pur = chaser- In consequence where of he hath bound himself by every [illegible] of Honor to pay to you on my Acct. One hundred and twenty five pounds [illegible] money in [hand?] money at the following prices for [illegible] of [illegible] weights [illegible] [illegible] at £3.4 English [illegible] at 36/3 and Dollars at 8/ each.
