Esteemed Friends I have sent you pr Z. Veazy & Negroe Paul as above, with the Hhd: & Crate of Iron Potts, the Tobo. by Davis was refus'd it is picked but not weigh'd, It being a Snowy Day these 4 Hhds can't be inspected, I shall either bring or sent you an accot. of the whole in a few days, there is no West India Rum to be had here of but my little County Rum, I have not one Hhd left, I have plenty of Sugar ~. Dr. Sirs

Inclosed is Dr. Colman's acct. which he says you may settle with John Wood for, advise John L. Duke of the Charge against him, and desired him to pay as soon as possible, the Dr. informs me that he paid Seven pound yesterday to Wood so that the Balance cannot be large, he sets forward this day in order to bring home his wife, by report she has several slaves which imagine will be very acceptable. I am in haste —

Dear Sirs

Your Favour of Yesterday I recd. by Capt. Burford and observe the Contents; I have apply'd to the Doctor, he says nothing better can be sent than what he gave you for the Negro Wench, and that you must proceed as he directed, tho' by the Beaver you'll received a small box of Salve which you may make a plaster of, instead of that you have, but he assures me either is equally good. He further says that you ought to examine if there are any ulcers about her Privates or any other part of her Body, if there are her disorder may not be what he imagins it. I have sent a dose of Ipochocuana for Bet which please to give her with orders how to take it. After which the annexed rect. must be observed which will doubtless cure her if nothing else is the matter, is it not the old Complaint. we have no news here, the Governor is slightly indisposed with alax something like the Flux, but Dr. Colman has given him some medicines to relieve the Complaint. Mrs. Martin is got well & the rest of the Family all hearty. Mr. Burford did not see his Excellency Mr. Nash said it was needless to apply for that the Commission was made out for Coll. Bullock.

Your favour of the 19th ult. this day came to hand with 2 Hhd Tobacco the weights of which shall be transmitted you per first opport.y. Have sent you pr Bearer John Wood 10 Sacks Salt & a Small Box dry Goods which wish safe to hand, the price of Pork here seems to stand at 22/6 except a small drove of particular Hogs which Josiah Jordan give 23/ for, We have a thought of sending up the 8 Negroes you saw when here to your care to dispose of on our Acct. should be glad you'd acquaint us in your Next how you think it wou'd answer I mean to get a tolerable price & speedy payment in Tobo. or money

Sirs We are this day favourd with yours by Joseph Baxtin & 2 Hhds Tobacco which shall be inspected as you direct, and at foot is a note of the same as well as the 2 Hhds sent formerly — on the 6th Inst we wrote you by [?] Blackwood that carried 2 Negroes for you & then mentioned the weights of these 2 Hhds by Maxwell

Merchts only to meet the 25th at Wmburg when Court is over, will advise you the Exchg. Hanson lately purchased a considerable quanity of Tobo on Rappahannock a 10/ Ster

We can supply you with No-ward Rum at 3/ pr Gallon. Musco Sugar 50/. payl in Virginia money in six months or Tobacco immediately delivered at the Cash price — you know what we get by them on these terms — Rum at present is Scarce & will be some time

Hillsborough June 5th 1774 Dr Sir I arrived late last night much fatigued without bringing a sillable of news worth notice. I dropt a very good new glove at the gate when I alighted and the old scoundrel who brings this, found it this morning & sold it to Tyree Harris's Peter before I got out of bed. I now sent him to get back the Glove which I imagin the negro Fellow will not refuse. Please send amos an order for 1/2 Barl Indn meal and dispatch Cuff with it in the morning.
