Gentlemen
I have written you sundry letters and without receiving an answer of nay kind. The bearer goes down with Tobacco, should he apply to you for a load for himself & companion, I wish sent Hogghead of good Jamaica Rum, 2 barrels of Common sugar, 2 bales of Course dutch blankets & one box of fine cotton cards, and the ballance of their loads in salt. Those articles are now in high demand and will meet with an immediate sale and by no means let them be neglected to be sent I have some monied Contracts with a Mr. Robt Garland of Virginia
which ash been transacted through the Mssrs Calquhouns. Mr Garland now owes me money and was sometime ago to have lodgd money with those Gentlemen for you which I suppose you have receivd. tho I have not heard from you on this and other subjects that I wrote you.
I shall not be down until about Christmas - then you may expect me with a drove of Hoggs in [?] to make you a handsome payment. I hope you enjoy helth and prosperity & am Gentlemen Yr friend and Obt Servt A. Benton
NB. by no means let nothing be neglected which I now write for AB.
let me know the prices of Pork & Tobacco.

Raleigh July the 1st 1799 Mr. DCameron Sir I have now set down to write to you conserning the note that was put in your hands to collect of Mr H. By [Mr?] James Mitchell & My self A ganst John Minister of Rockingham this is the 3rd [time?] I have wrote you by post and have got no answer but if you should Get this letter [pray?] gave me some information as the vote wholey Belongs to me after it is collected I have nothing worth your attension [Best?] [Renaims?] yours Allen B. Sirs I have the management of some business in Rockingham County and wish'd to have been out there this Court, but have been confined to my room for several weeks, if I am not mistaken I think you told me you attended that Court, if so, you will be so good as to inform me if any one has administered on James Galloway's Estate and who they are, if they have not, will you tel me at what Court I shall attend and what steps I shall take to compell and administration, as I am at a loss whether they are the same as in this state;- I observe what you say to W Gordon with respect to Campbells [debt?] to Jno Grun & Co. WG. has given up that business to me if you have done any thing with the land I will thank you to inform me; any business I have to do in your quarter & shall be glad to commit to your charge

Sir On my arrival at this p[l]ace was informed that the Negroe Woman which was covered by my Mortgage & Judgements, had been but a few Weeks before dec'd, which puts it out of my power to do anything in the Business, I have entered into Bond with Col Samuel Benton Security, therefore expect you will go on with the suit against Sargeant [Meers?]. Any day fixed for the examination of the Witness after the 1st day of Decr. till 10th of January will be con -venient to me, but should be glad to be in -formed of the time as soon as possible -

Surry County Sept 16th 1799 Sir I am willing to settle the law suit between as was formerly proposed to wit that I should relenquish my Judgement & pay half the county Court last, if you agree to this you may have the suit dismissed accordingly if not we must continue it of course as no Witness either for you nor against you will attend this Court [Heed?] Baker
