Mr Bennehan My Dear Mr Bennehan I Receiv your Letter and very happie to hear you are well and that all is well I and the Dear Little Children are well and the [guirls?] is gone to Maclingburg and is to return a Tuesday I am much [Serpies?] at Mr [Trishe?] Letter for I never had Shilling of Him in my Life. Mrs Wood wrote me a Tuesday and desierd me to Send the money by the man I wrote her again I never had a receive a Shilling of him in my Life I wont [illegible] See you and I am yours my Dearest Mary Bennehan

Dear Sir [Edenton?] 8th April 1783 Give me leave to congratulate you on the present important intelligence --- Which I think dont leave room to doubt, but before this -- that there is final period to the War- and hence reestablished upon honou =rable and permanent principles; The inhabitants of Halifax- in consequence of some interesting intelligence they received by a Gentleman from Richmond-- commenced their rejoicing by the discharge of 13 cannon for each State a dinner, and concluded with an elegant Ball in the Eveing--- I should have sent you copies of the handbils and also of the dispatches from Count De Estange to the French embassador at Philadel =phia containing a few of the heads of the preliminary articles of a peace-- But am confident you must have got them [illegible] this By the Members of assembly from Halifax--- Fortune as it determined to destroy the Man She once had cherished has given Mr Allen a Severe Stroke By

By the capture of the [Brig?] courtney of which [vessel & cargo?] he held 1/3th after an action of four hours with a Bermudian privateer The [illegible] and [illegible] men kiled during the engagement, present my warmest respects to my sister-- Yours [illegible] Amis
