A.G Thomas & wife were elected members of the society, The adjourned to meet at W.W. Moores Nov 18th/ 71. E.P. Thomas Sec Pro Tem

15th Meeting. Met Nov 18 th/71 at W.W. Moores B.L. Thomas Foreman Ten members absent. After waiting for their appearence till late we at length proceeded to businesswith the following questioned.

1st. How to keep tuberose roots In a warm dry place, as a chimney cupboard

2nd. Will it do to keep milk in a closet adjoinning a warm room? It was thought worth the trial.

3rd. Will it do to put fodder or any covering directly on cabbage? They must have air to dry or will decay.

4th. Is it too late to plant hyacinth roots? No.

5th. Dr. F. Thomas wants to know at what hours members get up & breakfast? Some breakfasted before 7oc who were present & a majority after.

6th. What is thought of washing butter? All but one member present wash it & consider it preferable.

7th. Would you sow disolved bone this fall (on a garden) and plough in or wait till spring? Plough part in but keep the larger part till spring.

Tis said to be a good idea in burying cabbage to sprinkle manure among the roots to help the sprouts in spring. Wm. S. Bond read from Scribner an article on the Chicago fire, also one on mignonette boxed for winter blooming.

Beaulah Thomas gave up Miss Mulocks "Phillip my King" - Mary P. Thomas an extract from Hearth & Home. The chip basket only contained a list of newbooks to be purchased at the S.S Library.

The former Sec. failed to bring the minutes of last meeting here, all his minutes still being in his possession we judge because he has neglected to copy them in the book we have all heard but never seen.

Sue L Thomas & B. H. Miller were appointed to read at the next meeting at Asa M. Stablers 12th mo 16th. P. R. Stabler Sec.

16th meeting Meet 12 th mo 16th at A.M. Stablers All the members present except Phillip & Cornelia Stabler, Joseph, & Anna L Moore.

Walter H. Brooke, was made foreman and after reading the minutes of last meeting & last one at this house the following questions were asked -

1st. How to sweeten rancid lard? Let it boil & put in a little sage is said to answer the purpose, or use sliced raw potatoes instead.

2nd. Will it be worth while to try to bring frozen plants to life? Yes: either break of the tops & let them pick up from the root or put in a cellar & water occasionally.

3rd. What must be done to keep lamp chimneys from breaking. No satisfactory answer.

4th. What to do with Roaches and are they any use. Sprinkle [ ? ] wafers around where they are; put arsenic in mashed potato

also use Stourbeakers Roach poison. If all these remedies fail, leave them till they emmigrate as they are said to do like rats. No use has ever been discovered for them.

5th. Is it costomary in this community for husbands to give their wives an allowance, and how much would be proper?

It's not costomary, and judging from the arguments on the question not likely to become so - fortunately most of the wives seem satisfied with the present assignment.

6th. How to stop a cistern from leaking that is built of brick underground and cemented. Ans. Use plastic slate.

7th. How to raise the grandeflora magnolia from the seed. No one had had experience. apply to Eliza Brooke of Brooke Grove.
