1st Quest. When fork over asparagus? Early in Spring

2. When is the proper time to move roses? before they put out.

3 Where can wild clamatis be found and when should it be moved? Here: Now.

4 Are pears a profitable market crop in this vicinity? Yes

5 What kinds of pears to plant? dwarf - Kirtland, Vicar, and Duchess standards - Seckle, Bartlett, and Catherine It was recommended to crop in the dwarf trees freely.

6 Would it be best to trim a thick seckle tree? yes

7 In trimming dwarfs leave the lower branches.

8. How early do dwarfs bear? from two to four years from planting. Article read on pears

9. Who has a basque pattern?

10 How can we assist the library?

11 Mary B. Thomas and the secretary were appointed a committee to wait on the library company and see if we could be of service in promoting its usefulness.

12 How to get rid of plaintains? Cut them below the crown. Sow ashes thick, Pull up after rains & mow frequently.

13 An exhibition of a new washing machine.

14 Should Asparagus be cut the first year? No

15 How to kill couch grass? try salt

16 What is the experience of members in sprouting potatoes before planting? F. Stabler found them from 2 to 4 weeks earlier.

17 What is the proper time to sow salsify ? last of march.

18 When plant Lima beans? 1st May with eyes down

19th How thick to leave salsify in rows 4 inches apart. It grows better in a new piece of land than in an old garden.

Mary B Thomas read "How soon we loose our children" and "A visit to Chatsworth England" and "The House Keepers Tragedy" which proves that cobwebs should be left, and it was substantially sustained by this body,

Walter Brooke read "Our future Farmers" Sarah Miller read "Lula's Complaint" and "Worry"

B. H. Miller from Friends Intelligencer read an extract "Womens work, what it is and what it will be.

In a vote upon the woman suffrage question, 2 women and three men voted for and the remainder against it.

Wm. W. Moore and B.L. Thomas were appointed to read next time.

9th Meeting At Norwood 4 Mo22 d 1871

The society met at Norwood 2 Mo 22d 1871 Four members were absent including the secretary, and Mary B. Thomas was appointed to fill that interesting office for the evening. Annie E. Hartshorne was requested to act as foreman. The minutes of last meeting were read and the suggestion was made to add the "Lawrence" pear to a list formerly discussed.

1st Quest. When to Bud oranges A Anytime after the tree is a year old when the bud will clip.

2 Is it advisable to plant locust near a dwelling? No most emphatically try red maples & tulop poplars instead.

3 How much bone dust shall I put on rose bushes? The answer was something like Mark Twains account of the capacity of St Peters They will take [...]well, a good deal.

4 Ought a milk cellar floor be sprinkled? Some did not know, one instance was mentioned where a brick floor was drenched daily and it proved satisfactory.

5 Of What shall I make my flowerbeds? Wood Earth & bone dust

6. How to make radishes like the sample? In cold frames.

7. How to keep beans from insects? as they do not prevent them from coming up it is not necessary to do so.

8. How to plant ground nuts? in drills

9. When to plant out strawberries? After they have done bearing.

The company were invited out to see the vegetable & flower garden, both of which were in a flourishing condition.

The gentleman appointed to read took advantage of one of the inaliable right of man, & got his wife to do it for him.
