1st When is the proper time to pot Geraniums for winter ? The middle of Sept take them up without trimming, do not water for several weeks, after which treat with water, & they willl bloom all winter.

2 When to move a rose bush? After the leaves fall in Autum.

3 Would you plant strawberries this fall ? No. wait till Spring

4. Will any other manure answer in place of stable manure for top dressing lawns ? Ashes & pasturing with sheep were both recommended.

5 Are corn & tomatoes nice when canned together ? yes but do not keep well.

6 How to make brine for cucumber pickles to bear an Egg.

7. When is the proper time to take up gladiolus roots? As soon as the tops turn yellow.

8 th When to replant an asparagus bed? In the Spring. (At the most urgent solicitations of our hostess business was laid aside for a few minutes to partake of the ample supper provided for the occasion, after which interruption the questions were resumed.)

9. How to keep Coleus in winter? In a warm dry room.

10. How to keep tomatoes so that they will ripen after frost? Pull the green ones & put them in a hot bed or on the garret floor.

11. When is the proper time to sow lettuce in a cold frame for winter & spring use? first of nov.

on the plea of forgetfulness, Dr Thomas read a piece entitled "the way to succeed" Albina O. Stabler & Wm S. Bond were appointed readers for the next meeting.

The secretary not being possessed of the Phonographic art could not take down quite all that was said at this meeting, but for further details see "societys receipt Book"

14 Meeting Oct 21st

"Home Interest" met at B. H. Millers with Albina Stabler foremen & E. P. Thomas Secretary pro tem. We had as guests Mortimer & Mary Osburn, Mrs Potts, Mrs A. G. Thomas & Miss L Stabler of Lunchburg Pa-

We visited a newly constructed pump dairy; which has given satisfaction so far.

The following questions were discussed.

1st- How to clean oiled furniture? Ans. Wash the funiture with cold water then apply boiled linseed oil with a piece of silk.

2nd Will it do to leave rose bushes out the wood is not matured? Ans. Advised to put them in a pit.

3rd Is it worth while to do anything with cabbage not yet headed? Yes! if well grown they will be likely to head after they are burried

Annie Hartshorne read from Gardners Monthly "how to set plants."

Albina Stabler an article criticising the way Americans disregard the picturesque in the construction of their homes.

Mary B. Thomas read some selections from "My Summer in a Garden"

It was suggested that we establish a "Chip Basket" in which any members might drop small articles which he thought would interest. The suggestion was adopted but the meeting didn't decide who was to read them.

Wm. S. Bond & Beulah Thomas were appointed readers for next meeting.
