Friend Henry

I write to inform you that the sale of that disputed piece of Land will take place on Thursday 19 inst. at M. Also will be sold two pieces which Dea P. Allott bid off 2 years ago and one piece that George Upton bid off which was never settled for. perhaps you may not know where these lots are. One of them joins that of Mrs C Kittridge, the other lies on each side of the new road above Dea Dascomb. That which Upton bid off is that piece from which John Brown cut the wood from 2 years ago this winter Another piece I like to have forgot is a piece joining that disputed lot which L. Davis bid off. All these pieces were sold 2 years ago "except that which was disputed and none settled for." Does that not look business like. (let the Deacons answer)

I hope if convenient you will be present

Yours in haste H. W. French

My dear Brother

Having just finished a long letter to Augusta, and it being now past 9 o'k I trust you will excuse me I this be brief. We got home safely, found Mr Jackson waiting for us. The children were delighted when they saw Frank, and Ponto leaped upon him with joy as great as any of them. She and Susan have been full of their privacy ever since Frank is now soundly asleep near by. And Henry the more I think what a fine time we had the more greatful I feel toward you for great kindness toward us. I can but thank you once more from the fulness of a sisters heart, and may I be enabled to repay you by my efforts to make you happy. Mr K-- paid our fare, and bid us "good bye" as a father by giving us both a kiss. you must not laugh! But for the object of this letter. Through carelessnes in me I came from B-- and forgot my shoe pattern. I left it in Mrs K's room in the large bible. Will you call and get it for me and send it by the mail if you can without injury - as soon as possible for I need it now? Write me very soon. Remember me to Joseph, and when he comes to A ask him to call on me. But I bid you "Good Night

Your Affct" sister M Augusta French

PS. My love to Mrs K. & family

She expresses herself fully to me of her feelings, but she says "I am unhappy" She feels that she has her hall conviction enough, and she does not know what to do. She says "I pray, thus pray for me, still I am not a christian, but I mean to perservere." I sincerely wish she might be brought to a knowledge of the truth as it is in Jesus. I trust your prayers will ascend for her that she may find peace to her soul. You have no idea how changed the style of her letters are. I suppose you may be ignorant of Joseph's feelings. I hope however the serious impressions of his have not left him.

LB writes, he is greatly engrossed in business, would he might be engaged in the same degree for his spiritual interests.

But while I feel anxious for them I may be neglecting my own interests I fear, I know that I am too thoughtless, too much engaged in the cares and pleasures of this life. It seems to me I never had more temptations to forsake the path of religion, and persue the path that leads to trifling worldly enjoyments than at the present time. I feel there is great need of watchfulness and prayer. Will you not remember me in prayer

Dec 14 -- /45,

A short time is allowed me to finish this, although I have much to say. I expect to go to school tomorrow or dext day, and board at the boarding house. Do not know who will room with me, wish you could find some one in B-- Why wont L Bates come? I have finished a branch of wax flowers and being under glass improved them. Shall be happy to make you a bunch sometimes There is no need of the carmine (if you have not sent it) at present. This is a section of news. Frances is to leave Mr Jackson the first of Feb-- to board with Mr T-- Fryes, CF's father's, in the Frye village.
