ATHENS, OHIO, JUNE 17th, 1908, 8 o'clock A. mJ Tfee B«ard of Trustees of the Ohio University met pursuant to the adjournment had on May 14th, 1908, and pursuant to anotice mailed to each member of the Board under date of June 13, 1908. of which the following is a copy: "This is to remind you that the annual June meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio University will begin at 8 o'clock A.M. Wednesday, June 17, 1908". Roll call showed the following members present; to-wit: Biddle, Black stone, Boyd, Coultrap, Davidson, Duff, Ellis, Hamblin, Jones, Kinnison, Tgmpkins,, Lowry, O'Bleness, Welch, Whiley, Wood, sixteen members being present, the same constituting a legal quorum of said Board. Following the reading of the minutes of the meeting of said Board held on May 14, 1908, upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, said minutes were approved. President Ellis Submitted the following report: "Athens, Ohio, June 17, 1908. To the B0ard of Trustees of Ohio University: Gentlemen:Herewith, I present the names of those students, recommended by the University Faculty, who are entitled to degrees, diplomas, and certificates on Commencement Day, Juij. 18, 1908. Request is made that the President be authorised and empowered to confer the degrees and present the diplomas and certificates as set forth in the list of names hereto attached. Roll call on said motion resulted in the following vote: AYES: Biddle, Blackstone, Boyd, Coultrap, Davidson, Duff, Ellis, Hamblin, Jones, Kinnison, Tompkins, Lowry, O'Bleness, Welch, Whiley, Wood. NAYS: None. Whereupon, the chair declared the motion unanimously adopted. Mr. Davidson nominated Israel M. Foster for the position of Secretary and Auditor of the Ohio University for the term of two years beginning on July 1, 1908, at an annual salary of $800.oo, which nomination was seconded by Duff. T^re being no further nominations, it was moved by Davidson and seconded by Duff that Trustee J. P. Wood be and he hereby is instructed to cast the vote of the B&ard of Trustees for Israel M. Foster for Alitor and Secretary of the Ohio University for a term of two years from and after July 1, 1908, at an annual salary of $800 per year. Roll call upon said motion resulted as follows: AYES: Biddle, Blackstone, Boyd, Coultrap, Davidson, Duff, Ellis, Hamblin, Jones, Kinnison, Tompkins, Lowry, O'Bleness, Welch, Whiley, Wood. NAYS: None. Whereupon,the chair declared said motion unanimously adopted. Thereupon, Trustee J. P. Wood did cast the vote of said Board for the said Israel M. Foster for said position of Secretary and Auditor flf the Ohio University for said term. 0 Motion by O'Bleness, seconded by Wood, that Mr. H. H. Haning be reelected Treasurer of the Ohio University for a term of two years from and after July 1, 1908, at a salary of |850 per year. Roll call on said motion resulted as follows, to-wit: AYES: Biddle, Blackstone, Boyd, Coultrap, Davidson, Duff, Ellis, Hamblin, Jones, Kinnison, Tompkins, Lowry, O'Bleness, Welch, Whiley, Wooa. NAYS: None. Whereupon, the chair declared Mr. Haning unanimously eledted to said position for said term. Mr. Tompkins introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption, which motion was duly seconded and unanimously adopted: -RESOLVED, That the office of Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio University be and the same is hereby created with the usual powers incident to such office." 37 Ohio University Record, Meeting j™> ^, 1908 animously elected to the office of Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the Ohio University for a period of one year. Mr. Boyd moved that the Finance Committee be and it hereby is authorized to negotiate the sale of any abandoned streets in the Village of Athens, Ohio; which motion was seconded by Lowry and unanimously adopted. Upon motion by Tompkins, seconded by Jones,, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: "WHEREAS, On March 1st, 189 7, Jane Root paid into the treasury of the Ohio University twenty-five ($25.00) dollars 'on out-lot No. 209' in the Village of Athens, Ohio, and a lease was duly issued therefor to the said Jane Root, her heirs and assigns, at an annual rental of one and 50/100 (|1.50) dollars; and WHEREAS, said sum of #25.00 has been passed to the credit of the General Revenue Fund of the Ohio University instead of to the State of Ohio, for which a d#ed should have been issued for said premises; now, therefore, Be it Resolved, that the Auditor of the Ohio University be and he hereby is, authorized and directed to transfer the sum of $25.00 from the General Revenue Fund of said Ohio University to the State of Ohio in payment for a deed for said premises to Clinton L. Boston, the present owner of said premises under said lease; and Also that the treasurer be, and he hereby is, authorized and directed to remit any rent that may stand charged against said premises since said date. Upon motion of Wood, seconded by Biddle, and unanimously adopted, the Finance Committee was authorized to expend not to exceed flOO.oo in defraying expenses in connection with the Aiumni Address and Alumni Banquet of the University. The Bpard received the folloy/ing communication: "Athens, Ohio, June 17, 1908. B0ard of Trustees, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. Gentlemen:Permit me to say that I shall not be a candidate for re-election in your institution. , Respectfully, Edwin Tausch." The following resolutions were introduced by Duff, seconded by Jones, and unanimously adopted> "WHEREAS, Dr» Edwin M. Tausch, who for some years past has occupied the important and responsible chair of Modern Languages in the Ohio University; and WHEREAS, the work of Dr. Tausch in this department has been characterized not only be great energy and especial fidelity to duty but by a broad and thorough scholarship; and WHEREAS, Dr. Tausch has notified this Board of Trustees of his desire to retire from his present honorable position as a member of the University Faculty; therefore BE IT RESOLVED, That in thus voluntarily severing his connection with
