394 Ohion University Record, Meeting - June 7, 1926. Athens, Ohio, February 18, 1927. pursuant to a call by Pres. E. B. Bryan, the members of the comittees on Buildings and rounds and Finances met in President Bryan's office for the consideration and approval of plans submitted by Architects Herbert B. Briggs and Howell & Thomas. for the construction of Memorial Auditorium. The following members were present: - Biddle, Hopkins, Bush and Bryan; a total o[crossed out]d[end crossed out]f four which constitued a majority of the members of the committees.

The aforesaid plans were approved by unanimous vote of the members present and the State Architect was requested and authorized to advertise for and receieve bids for the construction of the Auditorium. F. W. Bush C. G. Hopkins T. R. Biddle T. R. Biddle [Illegible]

Pursuant to a call by Pres. Bryan, the Buildings and Grounds Committee and the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees of Ohio University, met in the President's office in Ewing Hall. The following members were present: - Bush, Biddle, Jones, Hopkins and Pres. Bryan.

The report of Herbert B. Briggs was read and accepted. His report contained the following recommendaitions:

"I recommend the approval of contracts with the following contractors: - for following parts of the work in the following amounts, and that you request the Hon.George F.Schlesinger, Director of the Department of Highways and Public Works, to enter into the contract in the name of the State of Ohion with contractors for such work in such amounts:-

The Chappelear-Gardner Company, general contract work. Base bid and Alternate G-2, G-4, G-5 ---------$226,953.00

The S.A. Esswein Heating & Plumbing Comany, combined plumbing and heating and ventilating contract work. Base bid and Alternate P-9, H-10, H-11 ---------------------------------------$ 26,679.00

The Walsh Electric Company, electrical contract work, Base bid and Alternates E-1,E-5,E-9, E-10,E-11,E-12,E-13,E-14,E-15--------------------$ 15,775.00

Grinnel Company, Inc., sprinkler system contract work, Base bid -------------------------------------$ 555.00

Total--------------------------------$269,962.00

A motion was made by Biddle and seconded by Jones and unanimously carried that the Director of the Department of Highways and Public Works, be directed to award the contracts as listed above to the respective contractors and that he be requested to enter into contracts with each of the said contractors for the division of the work of building the Alumni Memorial Auditorium for which each is respectively the low bidder as recommended by Hon.
