To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the city of Fort Worth.

Gentlemen:

With reference to the attached petition, I would recommend that the quitclaim deed be made as requested by the mayor and city secretary on presentation by the agent of the owner.

It is my understanding that there is a general rule or ordinance authorizing the mayor and city secretary to execute these deeds when all taxes have been paid.

TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS:

Your petitioner, Etta Wood Mauphin, represents that she is the present owner of the following property, situated in the City of Fort Worth, Texas, to-wit: Lot Twelve (12), Block 152, Daggett Addition to said City; she further represents that in the year 1892 said property was sold by the Collector of said City of Fort Worth for the taxes over due said City for the year 1891, and purchased by said City, and a deed was duly executed by said Collector to said City for said property; That after said sale and the execution of said deed, the taxes for which said lot was sold was paid to the city, with all accrued costs, but the City never executed a deed or any instrument of writing showing the cancellation of said deed. To the end therefore that the Records may reflect the fact that said City makes no claim to said lot and that the cloud created by said deed may be removed from said lot she asks the Honorable Body by proper resolution to investigate the facts and, if found to be as represented, that said City, by its proper officers, execute at once to your petitioner a quit claim deed cancelling said tax deed and removing the cloud created thereby on said Lot Twelve (12), Block 152, Daggett Addition to the City of Fort Worth, Texas, and she will ever pray.
