Fort Worth, Texas.

To the Hon. Mayor and City Council of the City of Fort Worth, Texas:-

Gentlemen;

By reason of the overflow of water on Huffman Street, between North and Thirteenth Streets, in Fort Worth, on the morning of the 25th inst., my residence, my carpets, and my furniture was greatly damaged; in addition to this, the oil from the Gas Works, floating on top of the high water also entered my residence and damaged my carpets, my furniture, and my residence; it appears that if this Street had been properly looked after by the City, this damage would not have occured: therefore, in good conscience, and in justice to me, I feel that the city should pay me a reasonable amount for my damages. I respectfully ask you to make an investigation of the said Huffman Street, and of my damages; I think I ought to have $I00, and I therefore present this, my account to you for that sum for my said damages; I also herewith respectfully petition the City Council to take notice of this said Huffman Street and the oil that flows down said Street, as you may thing proper.

March 28, I904.

Respectfully, Will Ayers

Fort Worth, Texas, June 6, 1903.

The Hon. Mayor and Council, Fort Worth, Texas.

Gentlemen:

The Hon. Board of Trustees at their meeting on the Fourth of June voted to add two rooms to the Ninth Ward School. We hereby second the vote and respectfully ask you to make provisions for the immediate construction of the rooms, in consideration of the following facts:

1. This year the Ninth Ward School was overcrowded; over twenty pupils had to be transferred to other schools; thirty five had to be put in a rented room five blocks from the main building, from under the supervision of the principal; and a large number had to remain out of school because of the lack of room. The first grade was still crowded.

2. The new census shows an increase of forty pupils over last year's census, making easily one hundred pupils, whom the Ninth Ward building cannot accommodate next year.

3. As compared with the other wards, the Ninth Ward building has fewer rooms than any, - six rooms.

4. But as compared with the other wards, it has more pupils than the First Ward, more pupils than the Second Ward, as many pupils as the Third Ward, more pupils than the Fourth Ward, and more pupils than the Eighth Ward. The figures are, First Ward, 414: Second ward 452: Third Ward, 468; Fourth Ward, 449; Eighth Ward, 394; and the Ninth Ward, 468.

5. We believe that you will provide for the immediate construction of the two new rooms.

Respectfully,

C. W. Cartovitz 1298 Pools
