the waterworks, and that the said committee do report its action to this Council at its next meeting together with the proper ordinance duly and legally establishing the said office, defining the duties thereof, the term for which the said officer shall hold and the salary which he shall receive.

We your committee appointed to draft resolution of the death of Capt. A W Scoble, report,

Whereas at 4 45 oclock this morning Capt. A W Scoble, our superintendent of water-works , departed this life, and

Whereas, in the midst of his duties as an official of this city he has been summoned to his reward by the great Greater, therefore be it

Resolved by the City Council of the City of Fort Worth in called session, that in the death of Capt. A W Scoble, the city loses a valuable and most efficient officer, one who was prompt, painstaking and conscientious, and thoroughly acquainted with every detail in his department, one who had supervised the growth and development of our Water Works plant and system from its infancy to its present splendid proportions,

Resolved, that in his death, both the city, the community and the state lose a patriotic and a good citizen, one who had servedhis country in war with heroism and fidelity, in peace with intelligence and righteous conduct, quiet, unobtrusive, manly and upright, in all his ways.

Resolved, that we deplore his death and our consequent loss, recog nizing however that he has already reached the three score and ten limit and has simply paid great nature's universal debt.

Resolved that the city officer , out of respect to the memory of Capt. A. W. Scoble be closed tomorrow Apil I5, from 9 a.m. to 12 m.; that the bell at the Central Fire Hall be telled during the funeral services, that the police and the city emplo es be and they are hereby requested to attend the funeral services, also the fire department with a much equipment as may be sfaely spared and that the Mayor and the City Council be and they are hereby requested to attend the funeral in a body.

Resolved, further that we extend our sympathy to the sorrowing family, that these resolutions be engrossed in the minutes of the city council and a copy thereof, ever the signature and seal of the Mayor and City Secretary be furnished the family of the deceased.
