Fort Worth,Texas Oct.I5 th,03.

Hon.Mayor and City Council.

Gentlemen;-

We, your special committee appointed to look into the service rendered the public by the Northern Texas Traction Co, beg to report as follows,

We held a conference with Mr.Haines,Gen'l. Mgr. of the Traction Co and the matter of better service was discussed, especially as to the City Belt, and the Boaz and Mo. Ave, lines. Mr.Haines readily agreed to put on a I5 minute service on the Boaz and Mo. Ave line. In order to do this another siding will have to be put in between Elizabeth and Henrietta streets. This he promises to do at once. The matter of better service on the City Belt was discussed at some length. It was suggested by Mr. Hains that he could give a better service by making two belts, both coming in over the Hemphill street line, cars all to run one way. As this would require a number of residents living along this line to travel twice the distance that they now do to get to town, it was agreed that the newspapers should discuss the matter and give the patrons affected by the change an opportunity to express themselves. After discussing the matter with quite a number of citizens, your committee is of the opinion that the change should not be made at this time.

Two new and commodious cars have recently been placed on the belt line materially relieving the crowded condition.

General Mgr. Haines assures us that more cars will be put in and that other and necessary sidings will be put in. Your committee is led to hope and believe that the service rendered by the Traction Co will be improved as spedily as possible.

Respectfully submitted.

CITY OF FORT WORTH.

OFFICE OF CITY SECRETARY.

Fort Worth, Tex Oct 2 1903

Whereas the Northern Texas Traction Company is deserving of the commendation of all our people_ for their great enterprise in developing car travel of our city, and whereas our city council has amply recoquized the efforts of said company by granting on all occasions such franchises as desired by said Traction Company_ and whereas but little return is now given for the great privileges given and they fail to supply cars sufficient to accommodate the public, Now Therefore be it resolved that the Mayor and a special committee appointed by him be instructed to investigate the neglect or failure of said company to supply sufficient facilities for travelling public and report the result of such investigation to the council at next meeting.
