JANUARY 1943
24 SUNDAY Went to Chapel in morning rather cold. Went to S. School in afternoon. Mr Stewart's friend came to tea. Read in evening
25 MONDAY Did gym. Very cold Had games, but it rained at half time so we had to stop. Did home work all evening
26 TUESDAY A litte warmer. Miss Bafton away but she sent us work Did Homework in evening
27 WEDNESDAY five mistresses away. Danced instead of cookery. Mrs Kisby is going to be Miss Tilly's secretary
28 THURSDAY Had a terrible headache all day long. Went to bed at 7 o'clock did not do any HW.
29 FRIDAY Did not go to school. stayed in bed until dinner time. Walter gave me some stamps.
30 SATURDAY Have got a bad cold Walter came up in morning there were several hail showers Did some home work.

31 SUNDAY Did not go out all day owing to my cold Mr Stewart did not work. Read my book.
FEBRUARY 1 MONDAY Did not go to school again. Took Peter for a walk. Listened to Monday Night at 8.
2 TUESDAY Went to school. Weather quite cold. Rained in the afternoon. Had a lot of Home W.
3 WEDNESDAY Miss Garnett back. So * had cookery. Made pancakes. Did the play in English Had a lot of homework.
4 THURSDAY Janet got a cold. Had a lot of Home work. Mr Constable came up in evening.
5 FRIDAY Rather cold. It rained in afternoon. Tried to do some homework in evening but failed.
6 SATURDAY Janet & Mummy went to Ely. I stayed at home & cooked dinner. Took Peter for a walk in afternoon.

FEBRUARY 1943 7 SUNDAY Went to chapel in morning. and to Sunday School in afternoon very cold. Read in evening Daddy got bad cold.
8 MONDAY Only about five on our table at dinner. We did not have games. Took Peter for a walk. Very cold.
9 TUESDAY Had four tests in morning, Geog. History Latin Maths. Had quite a lot of homework.
10 WEDNESDAY Made cheese sausage rolls in cookery. Miss Garnett in bad mood. Miss Bourrugh away so did homework.
11 THURSDAY Had dancing instead of gym. Had to go to Miss Garnett at break. Mr Constable came in evening.
12 FRIDAY Had a lovely lecture and film show on Russia in morning Lovely day. Miss Saunders gave us a horrible essay.
13 SUNDAY Helped mummy in morning. Went to Sutton in afternoon to get sweet ration. Got peppermints barley sugar and clear gums. Mr Constable came to tea

14 SUNDAY Went to chapel in morning and Sunday School in afternoon. Roger came up to ours in afternoon did Home W in evening.
15 MONDAY Poured with rain in morning. Had dancing lesson. Did not have games as it rained but it was too late to catch bus so stayed at school.
16 TUESDAY Mrs Kisby to us for part of Scripture. Had a terrible lot of H.W.
17 WEDNESDAY Made milk bread in cookery. 3.00 [?] Miss Bourogh away so had two free lessons. Had a lot of homework.
18 THURSDAY A glorius day. Had a lovely game of netball Stayed in Ely after school and went to dress makers Had some terrible homework.
19 FRIDAY Another glorius day. Went to Grandma's in evening while Mummy & Daddy went to lecture. I did my homework.
20 SATURDAY Not very nice day. Helped Mum in morning. June Bent came on 11.50 bus Walked to Sutton in afternoon an saw a wedding. Did my home work in evening.

21 SUNDAY Went to Chapel in morning and Sunday School in afternoon. Afterwards went for walk with Roger and then had tea with him.
22 MONDAY Foggy day. Had dancing in morning. Had games in afternoon. I played back. Had a lot of homework.
23 TUESDAY Bit better day. Mr Stewart came home in evening He walked home from Ely. Had a lot of homework.
24 WEDNESDAY Made ginger puddings in cooking 2½d. Lovely day. Mr Stewart went to concert in evening. Had quite a lot of homework.
25 THURSDAY Lovely day. Had a game of netball in morning. Had a singing practice Stayed in Ely after school and had our skirts fitted.
26 FRIDAY Lovely day. Had afternoon lessons at school. Janet and Mummy went out in evening. I had a lot of homework!
27 SATURDAY Lovely day. Helped Mummy and did homework in morning. Went to Sutton after tea. Daddy, Mr Constable and Mr Stewart brought Grandma's Piano home played and sang in evening.
