JUNE 1943

13 SUNDAY Went to Sunday school in morning and taught Primary. Went to Sunday School in afternoon and afterwards went to walk with Roger. Had 4 RAF boys in to supper.

14 MONDAY Picked strawberries in morning and went on tractor with Norman. Had big dinner wash up. Went to see Joy's baby. The Smiths went home in the evening.

15 TUESDAY Very showery weather. Helped mummy in morning. Had rest in afternoon Walter came to tea. Went out on tractor in evening.

16 WEDNESDAY Went back to school. Did house-wifery instead of cookery. Had an interesting lecture by American lady on America.

17 THURSDAY* Rather cold day. Did not go swimming. Went and fetched my new dress after school. An airman Clarance came in for evening. Mowed lawn and drove tractor.

18 FRIDAY A gang of Italians came to chop out our beet. Very miserable day. Rained from 12 o'clock onwards. Had to borrow a mac to go to Acher House.

19 SATURDAY Helped Mummy all day. Did some washing and ironing. Sold strawberries all day long. Walter came up in evening.

JUNE 1943 20 SUNDAY Went to Sunday School in morning, and taught Primary. Went to Little Thetford to anniversary services. Clarance, an airman went with us instead of Mummy.

21 MONDAY Lovely day. Played rounders in morning and caught 1 person out Played tennis in afternoon. Picked raspberries in evening.

22 TUESDAY Lovely day. Got A for a geometry therorem. Picked 6 lbs of raspberries in evening.

23 WEDNESDAY Made macaroni cheese in cookery. Did some gardening in Science Clarence came in evening and I drove tractor.

24 THURSDAY Did not go swimming. lovely day. Had to revise all afternoon Picked raspberries and mowed lawn in evening

25 FRIDAY Not a very nice day. Picked raspberries in evening Clarence came in evening. Mummy went out. Walked back with []

26 SATURDAY A gang of Italians came to hoe our beet. Worked hard all day. Mummy and Janet went to Ely in morning. Had a bath and went to bed at 8.15

JUNE - JULY 1943

27 Sunday Went to Sunday School in morning and taught Primary. Walked home with Mary Kath and Clarence. Went to S. School in afternoon. Took Roger for a walk.

28 Monday Lovely day. A lot in our form went strawberry picking. Did some gardening in Science. Played Tennis all afternoon. Had a lovely time.

29 Tuesday Lovely day. Miss Roy told us that she is leaving at end of term. Had two History Revision Lessons. Turned very cold in evening.

30 Wednesday Made a chocolate sandwich in cookery. Had a Science revision lesson. Had some fun in singing. Clarence came in evening and helped pick rasps.

July 1 Thursday Mrs Wright took us swimming. She sent Betty back. Juniors Parents day, therefore had half day off. Did revision all the afternoon.

2 Friday Was going strawberry picking, but did not go into prayers. Got caught by Miss Baird and punishment could not go. Clarence came in evening and we had a good time.

3 Saturday Did not get up until 9 o'clock. Peeled potatoes and picked raspberries all morning. revised all the afternoon and evening.

JULY 1943

4 SUNDAY Went to S. School in morning and taught primary. Went to S. School in afternoon Clarence and his friend came to tea. Janet and I entertained them as Mummy & Daddy went out. Took them to Chapel in evening.

5 MONDAY Was sick in morning so did not go to school. Picked 8lbs of raspberries. Revised rest of day. Clarence came to wish us goodbye as work on the aerodrome is finished

6 TUESDAY Went to school. Did not have scripture so messed about. Had two History revision lessons. Revised all the evening

7 WEDNESDAY Made biscuits in cookery for parents party. Auntie Marion got little baby boy. Took Peter for walk in evening and did revision

8 THURSDAY* Senior's Parent Party in afternoon Mummy came; the Rivals by Sheridan was acted. It was very good Terrible thunder shower in afternoon revised all evening

9 FRIDAY Janet ill in bed with a bad chill temperature of 102. Went to Sutton in evening to get Janet some tablets. Auntie's baby weighed nearly 9lbs.

10 Saturday Janet still in bed. Revised nearly all day. Washed up dinner on my own.

JULY 1943

11 SUNDAY Went to Sunday School in morning and played for Primary. Did not go in afternoon as had to do revision. Two land Girl's came to tea. One was very nice.

12 MONDAY Rained in the morning. Did not get to school until 9 30 am. Had 2½ hour Geometry exam and 1½ hour french

13 TUESDAY Had 2½ hr History exam which was very easy. And 1½ hr English grammer which was terrible

14 WEDNESDAY Had 2½ hour Science Exam in morning and 2hr Latin Exam in afternoon. Revised in evening.

15 THURSDAY Had no exams in morning but went swimming. Afterwards had a farewell do with CFS who are going back they gave us a barograph and we gave them a picture. Had DS exam in afternoon

16 FRIDAY Had terrible arithmetic exam 2hrs and geography 2hrs. Had my hair washed in evening

17 SATURDAY Helped Mummy all the morning mowed the lawn. Had a wash all over and did revision in afternoon. Cycled to Ely in evening to see the Rivals with Hilda
