Parramatta Sept. 6th 1820 My Dear Sir

I was in hopes you would have favoured me with a call on your return from Sydney. I beg leave to send according to your request my Bill of Costs against Featherstone by which you will perceived the Plaintiffs. Attorney has admitted in my presence and that of Mr. Stephen the settlement of the action -

I [Indecipherable] I was rather vexed when the receipt and release from Royal arrived, my defence to the action was so good that I must have got a verdict - It is a mistaken idea, that because a receipt Deed or Agreement the account of it being signed on Sunday is any other day set apart for religious duties, is invalid. It is not forbidden by law altho indecorous and if possible should be avoided. Both Mr Stephen and self were [Indecipherable]

to attend the Supreme Court tomorrow. Do not fail calling next time you visit Parramatta. & I must [indecipherable] affect a [indecipherable] in availing myself of your kind and Mrs. Hassell kind invitation to Denbigh. I often wish I could visit you more frequently. My trips to Denbigh have been generally followed by two or three weeks good health, and satisfaction high than has at my visiting you. I must sadly [indecipherable] with another house where I should suffer esp. from cold & dampness and the rent would be less than what I now pay.

the account of the action being brought by Williams & [indecipherable] terminating as we wished to show that for the sake of a little lucre he would take my cause in hand. If it is convenient would you oblige me by an Order on Mr. Walker for the amount. I begin to feel like you that money now is moneys worth.

I send you also Rowe's Bill of Costs with a receipt on the bottom - I received liound: £18.1. from Mr. Walker and Rowe to deduct further from his Bill and he will accepted liound: £17. instead of liound: £18.10 the difference I have credited to your account.

Parramatta Sept. 12th 1820

My dr Sir,

I received your letter in the midst of a Inquest which began on Tuesday morning last and ended yesterday evening on the body of Mr. Robert Raine found dead in Parramatta River. The jury returned a verdict that the deceased was wilfully murdered by some person or persons unknown. - I shall be happy to attend to your wishes and that of the Public with respect to the Inquest required at Bringelly - And if Mr. Horsly is not forthcoming I will send a message for a Magistrate come and perform the duties of [indecipherable]. I thank you for your intention about Featherstone when I see a [indecipherable] I will talk on the matter - Compliments to Mrs. Hassall.
