My Dear Sir,
After leaving you yesterday at Kirkham I could not help feeling I had given you room to imagine I had acted with duplicity in refusing your kind offer of the horse to carry me to Parramatta after pleading as an excuse the poverty of my own I cannot therefore rest satisfied until I afford you that explanation which is your due from [indecipherable] ; - I am well aware of your knowledge respecting the state of feeling between your sister Ann & myself; - and shall therefore be candid - my Principal object in going to Parramatta was to see Her, but hearing from you she was going from Home I no longer felt that wish to reach Parramata which her being there had occasioned

I think this will prove a sufficient reason for my apparent strange conduct. It is not yet made known to your Mother, but your sister & myself have determined to do so when circumstances will render such a step prudent.
You must excuse me now enlarging on the subject [indecipherable] myself with the hope of finding in you both a friend to advise and a brother to esteem, be assured of the esteem for My Dear Sir Yours Very sincerely R.M. Campbell
