4th mo 1867

5th 25 Bob and self rooled and harrowed and my ground in morning, in afternoon prepared guana which John Cook brought up in the morning. I went after George Bowin who I engaged to help me plant potatoes & John Mitchel also. Clear Evan here

6th 26 Plantid potatoes to day. put on 200 lbs peruvian guano and 200 lbs [Corsican?] [Wiley?] Bonds bone. Clear - Geo Bowen John Mitchell Bob & Margaret assisting. Evan here all day.

7th 27 John Bob Margaret & self planted potatoes until three oclock when John left off George was not here: Three acres plantid now. Caleb & Warwick helped me. Clear. Evan here half a day

1st 28 Clear.

2nd 29 Father went to Baltimore this morning Bob and self sheled 12 bushels of corn 2 of them for himself, then meshered up 18 bushels potatoes for Uncle Warwick In evening I went after Powell Pierce who fired the pump. Been raining all day

3rd 30 Bob and self chocked fence from stable down to B's garden and fixed up a pair of bars at stable. sold 8 bushels potatoes @ 50 cent. John Mitchel B & self finished up stones. Rainy

5th mo 1865

4th 1 Father Bob and self meshered up 40 bushels of potatoes for Uncle Bob to take to town. In evening I went over to Sunny side to help break oxen. Rained until dinner. clear after

5th 2 John Bob and self cleaned up about the house until dinner after which John left I went down to the mill after dinner. In evening Sister Corrrie Belle Caleb & self went up to a double wedding at Sharp street Clear until dinner. Clowdy after.

6th 3 Bob [and self grubbed up?] worked up in the orchard all day I helped him until dinner after which I mendid an old plow Snowed a little before dinner. Clowdy after.

7th 4 Father Bob Margaret and self planted potatoes until 4 oclock. Charly Kirk and Sarah came down then Clear Evan here all day.

1 5 Clear as bell.

2nd 6 John Bob and Father prepared guana I plowed and harrowed the truck patch. Evan cut potatoes all day. Commenced planting Fathers potatoes in evening but it rained about 3 oclock. cut potatoes rest eve.

3rd 7 Rained all day did not do any thing particularly

5th mo 1867

4th 8 Rained all day meshered up 25 bushels potatoes.

5th 9 Cleared off this morning. Bob and self fixed up fense (board fense). Hawled wood in evening. John 6th 10 John Bob Margaret and self planted Fathers potatoes all day Sister went up to Cousin Samuel Thomases to a Croquet party in afternoon I went after her after Supper brought Cousin Cane down. Clear

7th 11 I drove Nace Macke and Rose up to Cousin Willy Brooks this morning John Margaret & Bob planted Fathers potatoes all day. George Bond commenced planting his potatoes after dinner Evan here all day. Ally & Eddy came down

1st 12 Clear

2nd 13 Bob Margaret and self planted Fathers potatoes all day. I plowed the first time I have ever plowed all day. Little gust in the morning the another after supper.

3rd 14 I fixed up the Lima bean poles Bob filled up the old potato sellar. In evening We made Lima bean hills and plantid them Clear all day

5th mo 1867

4th 15 Powell Pierce was here all day cleaning out the well, found a cat in it but could not get it out I went up to Uncle Bens after Granfather and Mother. Father went to Balt in morning came back in evening. Clowdy in morning Clear in evening.

5th 16 Bob Margaret and self plantid my potatoes in morning made bed for straw berries in truck patch in eve. Clear Evan here half a day.

6th 17 I took Billy and helep Uncle Asa lay off corn rows all day. Bob worked about the house. Clear

7th 18 Margaret Bob and self finished planting Fathers and my potatoes had Prince & Nelly for a team. I helped Uncle Asa plant corn in eve Bob prepared [compost?] Clear. Evan here half a day. Nelly [asterisk in margin; symbol of circle divided into segments at end of line]

1st 19 Clear.

2nd 20 Planted out two rows of strawberries in truck patch and stuck peas. planted out beats. In evening Father Bob & self prepared [compost?] Clear

5th mo 1867

3rd 21 Rained all day Bob cut wood I went over to Granfathers and made a martingil. In evening we cut and raked the grass off of the front yar[d]

4th 22 Bob finished cutting the front yard hawled out the grass. In evening Bob hawled out grass I went up to Sam [Lizeas?] to get him to make me a set of Croquet [holls?] Granmother came down from Cousin [Han?] Thomases this eve. Evan here whitewashing all day Rainy in morning Clear in eve.

5th 23 Bob and I helped George Bond plant corn I laid off rows all day. Uncle Evan here all day white washing. Clear

6th 24 I was over at Granfathers shop all day Bob worked about the house Father went to the relay to meet Aunt Ellen and the children who came up in the evening. all very well Clear.

7th 26 Rained all day, cleared off late in evening
