Estelle Moore - read an Epic of the Air - telling of the good work of the Royal Air Force. - and - George Wasington said: - "Make the best of men as you find them".

Julia Hallowellpassed around among the members and guests a picture of Betsy Ross - her home and the flag. She read a few verses about the First Flag.

Elise Hutton's article, asked What's wrong with the right people? They seem to be going about the abolition of crime in the wrong way.

Question - How to trim raspberries? - Cut out old canes as soon as they stop bearing. Cut back new canes a little - excepting for the ever-bearing which should not have new canes trimmed

5] Sallie Janney read of Mistress Margaret Brent who demanded a voice and vote in the Assembly as well as many other privileges – which she claimed were due her.

Mary Nichols – read of the signing of the Declaration of Independence – and of its many trials. It is now – with the constitution – safely housed in the Library of Congress.

Amy Hutton gave some extracts from “As You Like It” in Scribners.

Alice Tyson’s contribution was read by Estelle Moore.

Margaret Moore told of a new use for old papers – A family built a home of old newspapers – folded in shape and varnished – and used as shingles.

6] Emilie Massey – a story and a poem by our much loved friend Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Mariana Miller – read the old minutes of meetings at Avalon, Bloomfield – and Walnut Hill in 1874.

Question – Are these minutes interesting? It was suggested that Mariana use her own judgment in selecting the interesting ones to read.

Rebecca Miller wanted to know where she can get good gardening seed – Many firms were recommended – and some felt that the season and not the seed is responsible for success or failure.

She read a poem on a Package of Seed and its wonderful possibilities.

Committee Reports – The only committee to report was the Social Service Committee.

7] Mary Tilton, Chairman, who told of the Branch Committees which are being formed in different sections of the County to carry on the various phases of the work. The Drive was’ very successful.

Unfinished Business – The secretary had brought a copy of the Maryland Flag and Maryland Seal which were circulated.

No reports from County or State Federations.

New Business – The report from the Community Council was read and accepted. Approval of regulations for parking around Road-side Markets was given – and the Council to be asked to ascertain the present law for parking vehicles on pubic highways.
